SPA marks 1st year

With the increasing need for an arts-oriented education, the Alaminos City
National High School is now offering a Special Program in the Arts (SPA) to
students, who are inclined to artistic skills and whose grade point average in grade
6 was 83 and above, to undergo an interview and an examination to qualify.
Now on its first year, the ACNHS-SPA is catering to grade 7 students,
majority of whom graduated from the different private and public elementary
schools in Alaminos City and the neighboring towns of Bani, Mabini and Sual.
The first batch of grade 7 SPA class is under Mrs. Ginalyn Narvasa, adviser,
with 50 officially enrolled students who passed both the entrance interview and
written examination given last May.
The students under the SPA are provided a program different from what is
being used in the regular classes. They have additional subjects like creative
writing, visual arts, dances, theatrical arts, and music. These subjects are taught by
Ms. Cora A. Fangon, Mr. Ruben C. Pacis, Mrs. Maribel P. Lazo, Mrs. Ginalenn Q.
Narvasa, Mr. Arnold P. Imbisan, and Mr. Raynand P. Nepascua, respectively.
The creation of the ACNHS-SPA was made possible through the concerted
efforts of Mr. Honorio R. Romero, Head Teacher III in MAPEH and Mrs. Cecilia M.
Nisperos, Education Program Supervisor and OIC Principal, with the initiative of Mr.
Orlando I. Guerrero, Education Program Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan and
Values Education, and with the support of Dr. Danilo C. Sison, Assistant Schools
Division Superintendent, Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Schools Division
Superintendent.
