(Warm up and piece Monday)


● Objectives
○ Students will apply dynamic contrast sections of Dark Fortress
○ Students will demonstrate understanding of style to Dark Fortress
○ Students will play a run through sections of Dark Fortress with greater tempo
● Standards
○ 7.13 The student will perform a varied repertoire of music.
■ a) Sing or play music written in two or three parts.
■ b) Play melodies and accompaniments written on the treble staff and/or bass
staff.
■ c) Demonstrate appropriate performance practices.
○ MIB.5 The student will identify and notate key signatures of scales and literature being
performed.
○ MIB.11 The student will demonstrate proper instrumental techniques, including
■ finger/slide placement, using finger/slide patterns and fingerings/positions;
■ wind student—proper breathing techniques and embouchure; contrasting
articulations
(tonguing, slurring, staccato, accent);
○ MII.12 The student will read and interpret standard music notation while performing
music of varying styles and levels of difficulty, in accordance with VBODA Levels 1–3.
○ MII.13 The student will demonstrate use of articulations, dynamic contrasts, and
phrasing as means of expression.
● Procedures
○ Post Assessment and time to work on projects
○ Warm Up
■ G minor with dynamics
● Try air patterns first
■ Run the Warm up sheet and motive rhythm, building speed
● Half of class on motive (1 2+ +4; 1+ 2 3 4+) and other half on melody
sheet
■ Percussion will work on warm up sheet
○ Piece (have pencils please!)
■ Students will work on dynamics at measure 49
■ Students will run suspended cymbal parts added to the music
■ Students will work on each section, building greater tempo and time
● Counting, dynamics, style
● Use a drumbeat
■ Students will run the piece with the recording
● Materials

○ Listening to the changes and improvements being made
