Tail  tie  down   Remove  
Control  surfaces   Check  
3  –  RIGHT  WING  Trailing  Edge  
Aileron   Check  freedom  of  
movement  
4  –  RIGHT  WING  
Wing  tie  down   Remove  
Main  tire   Check  inflation  
Wing  fuel  sump   Drain  and  check  for  
color,  sediment  or  
water  
  Fuel  quantity   Check  visually  
  Fuel  cap   Secure  
Visually  check  airplane  for  general      
condition  during  walk-­‐around  inspection.  
5  –  NOSE  
 
Engine  Oil   Check  oil  level  
In  cold  weather,  remove  even  small  
Oil  dipstick   Secure  
accumulations  of  frost,  ice  or  snow  from  
Engine  fuel  sump   Pull  knob  our  for  4  
wing,  tail  and  control  surfaces.  Also  make  
seconds,  catch  in  
sure  that  control  surfaces  contain  no  
fuel  tester  
internal  accumulations  of  ice  or  debris.  
Prop  &  spinner   Check  
Prior  to  flight,  check  that  pitot  heat  (if  
Engine  air  inlets   Clear  
installed)  is  warm  to  touch  within  30  
Air  filter   Check  
seconds  with  battery  and  pitot  heat  
Nose  strut  &  tire   Check  
switches  on.  If  a  night  flight  is  planned,  
Static  source   Check  
check  operation  of  all  lights  and  make

sure  a  flashlight  is  available.  
  Wing  fuel  sump   Drain  &  Check

Control  wheel  lock   Removed  
   
Ignition  switch   Off  
7  –  LEFT  WING  Leading  Edge  
Avionics   Off  
Pitot  cover   Remove  
Master  switch   On  
Fuel  tank  vent   Check  
Fuel  quantity   Check  
Stall  warning   Check  
Flaps   Down  
Wing  tie  down   Remove  
Lights  &  Pitot  Heat   Check  
   
Master  switch   Off  
8  –  LEFT  WING  Trailing  Edge  
Hobbs  &  tach   Record  
    Aileron   Check
