EDUCATIONAL ISSUES

1. Give three issues that need to be prioritized by our academic institutions.

A. Addressing Mental Health of Students and Teachers – Mental health awareness is an

important issue for all educators. Educators are often the first line of defense for students. Education
professionals are aware of how a student's mental health affects learning and performance and know
that there are many things that can be done to help students with mental health problems. As a 13-
year-old high school teacher, I admire the fact that mental health awareness is becoming an important
part of school function and curriculum. This is especially true of most people who suffer from stress,
anxiety, and depression during this pandemic.

B. Teaching with Technology – the ongoing pandemic, we can see the importance of technology
in education. This was the silver backing of our education system, especially in the new normal
environment of our education. Faced with the era of technology and digitalization, we need to get the
most out of technology in the ongoing challenges facing the education sector. Teachers can customize
student learning. This allows you to improve your teaching methods, personalize your learning, and
increase your productivity and efficiency as a trainer. These handy tools allow teachers to provide
exciting activities.

C. Safety of Teachers and Students on Reopening of School – September 20, 2021, the
Philippine Government approved a pilot exam for limited face-to-face education in low-risk areas.
Public health and safety measures are also important to ensure the safety of all children and teachers,
as some schools will be reopened on a small scale. Municipalities and schools impose strict guidelines
to ensure the safety of children attending classes directly, such as wearing face masks and others for
teachers, school staff and students with national and local guidelines. It is necessary to control virus
infections such as PPE guidelines. Sufficient opportunities for improved hygiene and hand washing,
frequent cleaning of surfaces and commons, and daily disinfection of the classroom.

2. What is the role of education in nation building?

A famous Dutch Philosopher and Father of Modern Renaissance Desiderius Erasmus

once said, “the main hope of the nation lies in the proper education of its youth”.
Education plays a very important role in nation-building. Because education makes people intelligent and
honest citizens of their country. Appropriate rights to education can lead independent citizens to developed
countries. Educated societies in developed countries are human-powered societies, and every human being has
a legitimate place to revolutionize people's lives. It should be emphasized that the sole purpose of education is
to train people to meet the needs of society and to find ways to promote the development of the country in the
best possible way.
