II. LESSON DISCUSSION

BASKETBALL is a team sport in which

two teams, with five players each,
opposing one another on a rectangular
court. The primary objective is shooting
a basketball through the defender's
hoop while preventing the opposing
team from shooting through their own
hoop. Invented in December 1891 by Canadian-
American gym teacher James Naismith in
Springfield, Massachusetts, United States, basketball
has evolved to become one of the world's most
popular and widely viewed sports. The soccer ball
was first ball used in the event.
Teams had nine players with
the goals of wooden peach
baskets attached to the walls.
In the year 1897 – 1898, teams
of five became standard rule
for playing team.
