As a child, I was always motivated by people who were honored for saving someone’s life.

I
used to frequently daydream about saving people from drowning or fire. Then I opted for course
in paramedic science. I not only gained a lot of experience but also derived an immense sense of
achievement during this course. Therefore I am applying for a place to study paramedics at your
University.

With the degree in paramedics, I will further develop knowledge and understanding in the
domain of paramedics. With the help of experienced faculty and mentors of your esteemed
organisation, I will gain more insight into caring practices and making the right decisions to help
people in an emergency.

I am currently on an access course to paramedic science which will finish at the end of August
2021. One of the modules in the course offers insights into emergencies and stressful situations.
Cases like people suffering from chest pain, food lodging and drowning made me panic initially.
However, I was quite thrilled by the way expert paramedics mentioned abount handling the
situation. I am now comfortable during such situation however I have keen desire to care and
assist people in the best possible way.

A trained paramedic will make me more competent in the field and help me to follow my passion
to serve others. I wish to serve my society and work for a greater cause by offering my services
during an emergency.

I have good interpersonal skills that will help me to connect with people and patients in need. I
am able to easily build rapport with people and assure them about the best care given to them.
This skill helps me to calm people and patients in an emergency which further helps them to
relax thus making the situation easier to handle.
While studying at Duke of York’s Royal Military School I have gained many skills that will help
me to become a successful paramedic. I was prefect of my class, this has helped me to gain
leadership skills. I was exposed to working and coordinating with different types of students and
teachers. As a leader, I was able to empower my classmates with responsibilities, resolve
conflicts and motivated them to put their best. I strongly believe in teamwork. I am both team
worker as was a team leader. Based on the situation I take leadership position however if the
situation demand I am also a good team player. While working with Ambulance service I
displayed my skills as a good team player where I followed the instructions of the supervisor. I
also motivated other team members to follow the procedures and work towards common goals.

Working as a prefect also helped in working with different types of groups and this made me
capable of working outside my comfort zone. It also helped me learning time management skills.
As the position required me to balance my other prefect responsibilities with my studies. I was
able to work under stress situation and also under tight timelines. Time is of the essence,
especially in an emergency. My time management skills and working under stress skills will also
help me to be successful paramedics. During the course, various skills and subjects are covered
and proper time management with the studies and practical lessons is one of the most important
criteria to complete this course.

I love to keep my fit and healthy and therefore regularly indulge in games like Rugby, Hockey,
Football and DofE Bronze and many other extracurricular activities. In one of such matches, I
encountered an accident where one of player’s right ankle was injured. I could predict soft tissue
damage however I realized that in order to gauge the situation correctly and quickly act upon the
case I need a vast amount of medical knowledge. I am also planning to regularly volunteer in
health sectors programmes to broaden my knowledge in the area of paramedics.

I enjoy caring for people and I know that emergency response is the career that I am passionate
about. Every day and every hour the cases are different and it this challenge that excites and help
me to keep going. In my small volunteering experience, I enjoyed meeting different people and
treating them. After working for long hours this job that is capable of giving me satisfaction for
doing something meaningful and able to make the difference.

With this attitude, experience and help from experienced faculty of your esteemed university, I
am determined to be a successful paramedic. Thank you for your kind attention and looking
forward to joining your university to succeed in my ambition to study paramedic science
