1. Introduction
This document provides the steps required to install Trend Micro Smart Endpoint Security
Agent. The document also lists the system requirements for the remote machine which should
be ensured before deployment.
The setup has to be downloaded from the Management Server: Trend Micro Apex Central and
can downloaded on the user machine locally or it can be remotely uploaded via using Remote
Desktop softwares or file transfer tools. In this example the transfer is done via AnyDesk
software.
2. System Requirements
Before proceeding with the installation please ensure that all the basic requirements are met. If the
system is not having sufficient resources please do not proceed with installation and advise the user to
upgrade the system as per the recommended settings.

2.2 Windows 8.1(32 bit/64 bit) requirements:

Note:
Available Disk Space If you activate Application Control, Endpoint Sensor,
Vulnerability Protection, and Data Protection on the Security
Agent, Trend Micro recommends increasing the minimum disk
space to 3.0GB.
Monitor that supports 1024 x 768 resolution at 256 colors or
higher
Windows Internet Explorer 10.0 if performing web setup

Allow printer/file sharing in the Windows firewall (if enabled)

Note:
If you activate Application Control, Endpoint Sensor,
Vulnerability Protection, and Data Protection on the Security
Agent, Trend Micro recommends increasing the minimum
disk space to 3.0GB.
Monitor that supports 1024 x 768 resolution at 256 colors or

Allow printer/file sharing in the Windows firewall (if enabled)
Enable default local admin
Communication with Control Manager/Apex Central - the agent uses TCP port 80 on
HTTP or TCP port 443 on HTTPS to communicate with Control Manager/Apex Central.
License ports - TCP and UDP allow access to the Trend Micro License Server via port 80,
60162, and 60163.
Standalone Smart Protection Server - If Standalone Smart Protection Server is used in the
environment, File Reputation Service for smart scan uses port 80 for HTTP and port 443
for HTTPS. Web Repuation Service uses port 5274. The web console uses port 4343 for
HTTPS.

3. Installation Steps
The setup has to be downloaded from the Trend Micro Apex Central management console:
Step1: Select the correct version of your OS(32 bit or 64 bit) and download the setup.
Select the Installer link and select the correct OS version: 32 bit / 64 bit and download the
installer. Before installing Agent, you must ensure that you have latest Apex one agent.

3.2 Installing the Agent on User’s Workstation
Before installing Trend Micro Smart Endpoint Protection, it must be ensured that any existing
Antivirus software is removed and the directory is cleaned. System must be restarted to ensure
that all registry entries are removed before proceeding with the installation.

Verify Apex One agent on endpoint machine. Click and select show hidden icons on the taskbar
and select the Trend Micro Security Agent.

3.3 Updating the Agent:
The updates shall be downloaded and installed automatically from the central server weekly.
However, if manual update is required kindly follow the steps given below on the remote
machine:
Double Click on the TrendMicro icon in Taskbar Click on the update button
The latest security agent version and anti-virus definitions shall be downloaded from the server
and installed on the local machine.
The steps for checking the health of the agent are given below:
Double Click on the TrendMicro icon in Taskbar Popup should be displayed as “Protection
Enabled” with the message: “You are protected and your software is up to date.”

Troubleshooting:
ii. In the address bar, enter the following address replacing the IP and port where
indicated:
https://10.0.223.130:4343/officescan/cgi/cgionstart.exe
2. Verifying if the agent is configured to use these correct ports and IP/FQDN:
Right-click the agent in the system tray->Choose "Component Versions”->Verify the Server
name/port: line is correct.

3. Checking firewall ports and Telnet:
Open a command prompt on the machine to verify. Run the following command to verify the
port state with the Windows Firewall:
