FOREWORD
The American National Standards Committee B107, Socket Wrenches and Drives, under sponsorship by
the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, held its organizational meeting on June 28, 1967. Subcom-
mittees were subsequently organized to handle the expanded need of both inch and metric series American
National Standards Institute standards dealing with wrenches, handles and attachments. This is one of a
series of such standards.
Members of the Hand Tools Insitute have been major contributors to the development of these standards
in their committee work. Their knowledge of the products and their active efforts have helped in the
promotion and adoption of the Standards.
This standard was submitted to the industry for review and comment. Following the approval by the
Standards Committee B107 and the sponsor, it was approved by the American National Standards Institute
on July 17, 1978, and designated ANSI B107.7-1978.
