R ESPONSIBILITIES A S SOLARIS A DMIN

 Monitoring Alerts on Severity Basis

 Installing Checking & Removing Software Packages & Patches
 User management – Creating users / groups, assigning quotas for users and auditing
users.
 Managing file systems - creating new file systems, checking & recovering file systems.
 Scheduling Jobs with Crontab and at utility.
 Co-ordination with SUN Field Engineer to resolve the hardware issues
 Replacing Hot-Swappable Components like Power Supply, FAN, and Internal disk.
 Perform Schedule Reboots.
 Schedule Hardware Replacements based on Downtime request, work with Vendor
 Well versed with the security issues like Quotas, RBAC, ACL, Setuid and Sticky bit.
 Swap Management – adding swap , removing and checking the swap space
 Troubleshooting and configuring NFS server
 Package and Patch Management - Adding and Deleting Packages and Patches according
to the requirement.
 Configuring Solaris Zones in Solaris 10. (Creating Whole root zone and sparse root zone).
 Manage system processes and services using the Service Management Facility (SMF).
 Resolving the day to day incidents
 Configuring Raid 0 (stripe and concatenation), Raid1 and Raid 5 for disk and data man-
