The South Asian Cardiovascular Clinic at The Christ Hospital is the only clinic of its kind
PMS 424C
in the Tri State area with two dedicated cardiologists who specialize in South Asian
cardiovascular care.
Research shows that South Asians have significantly higher rates of incidence,
prevalence, morbidity and mortality from coronary artery disease (CAD) and myocardial
infarction (MI) when compared to other minority and ethnic groups in the U.S .
In fact, in India , an estimated 30% of all CAD deaths occur in people <40 years of age as
compared to only 1% and 4% of all CAD deaths in the U.S. whites and blacks respectively
<45 years of age.
These compelling statistics have led Dr. Menon and Dr. Bhatia to strategically work
towards increasing awareness among the South Asian communities and provide
culturally sensitive care to everyone.
