HANDWASHING IS THE MAIN ACTIVITY TO PROTECT
PEOPLE AGAINST ANY SICKNESS

Washing your hands is a simple but essential way to prevent the spread of infection.
Keeping your hands clean is the best way to prevent the spread of bacteria.
Microorganisms are everywhere around us, not only in patients, but also on all kinds of
surfaces. They do not have their own mobile regime, but are transported by animals and
individuals from one place to another, most of the time only in the superficial area of the
skin. In humans, the hand maintains the greatest contact with the environment and is the
true carrier of microorganisms and the true carrier of diseases. We have to wash our hands
with soap and water, if we are in places where we do not have it, we must carry alcohol
in gel or liquid in our wallet, if we have children it is much more important to have it
because of the exposure they have when touching all surfaces. A good hand wash can last
only 20 to 30 seconds to avoid the transmission of many diseases that surround the planet
today (1).

One of the most recent diseases that has forced us to carry out washing in a more common
way is Covid 19, which is also spread by contact with fomites, which is why it was
decreed by the WHO (World Health Organization) to carry out hand washing when
touching surfaces who are in contact with a society. This pandemic helped to cultivate
this habit in people who did not have it and in many children. Proper hand washing or
disinfection with alcohol solutions prevent bacteria from being transported by ourselves
to our face and infecting us with many of the infections that surround us in our
environment (1).
