A hydrograph is a graphical representation of the amount of water discharge

over a period of time, in a specific area. The crest of the hydrograph is the point where
maximum discharge is reached and its falling limb is the time where flood water is
discharged in the bodies of water. Hydrograph is important because it helps in
predicting flooding events in particular watersheds.
