Mrs. Inutz,35, resides at Purok Mainabyanon, Poblacion 1, Municipality of Montalban.

She is a high school graduate and earns a living as a fruit vendor. She earns a profit of
250pesos/day. She augments her income by servicing “mani-pedi’ to her community
neighbors. Approximately, she earns 300/week. Mrs. Inutz was medically diagnosed to
be hypertensive (150/100 mmHg) in last quarter of 2019.She was prescribed with an
antihypertensive medication, however not compliant because of financial constraint.
When afflicted with ailments like cough and fever, she would buy ‘over-the –counter
medications and will not consult the doctor. Sometimes, she would bring her children to
a “manog luy-a luy-a “or quack doctor for sickness like chills and stomachache. She
stands 5’3” and weighs 192 lbs with a waist to hip ratio of 0.81.

Her husband, Whamos, 37, works as a pump boy in a nearby gasoline station and is
earning 300 pesos / day. He is also a high school undergraduate. To increase family’s
income he would drive a trisikad during day off.. He could earn approximately 300
pesos /week. His BP is 120/80mmHg His waist to hip ratio is 0.96..He consumes at
least 15 sticks of cigarettes/day ,self- medicating when he is having
headache ,toothache and other body pains.. Drinks alcoholic beverages with friends
during day off Whamos is 5’5” and weighs 179 lbs. He underwent an appendectomy
surgery when he was 18 years old. Both Inutz and Whamos do not exercise regularly
and they don’t avail of the medical services of the health center. The couple had been
practicing natural family planning method back then. The family’s religious affiliation is
Roman Catholic.

The couple had three children; John, 14 years old, a high school student,he weighs 135
lbs and stands at 5’2”.. At an early age he is smoking, consuming at least 5 sticks /day.
He also spends time together and drinks alcoholic beverages with peers, and does not
exercise regularly. He is constantly hooked on playing mobile legends. Second child is
Joshua, a 6-year-old child. He weighs 24 lbs. and is 27 inches in height. The youngest
child is Dina, a 2-year-old child who weighs 22lbs and stands at 35 inches. Both Joshua
and Dina are not usually wearing slippers when playing outside of their house. Currently
Dina has scabies. She frequently scratches her scalp and inner elbow. Tiny blisters can
also be seen in her palms. Her mother is applying aloe vera and other pounded leaves
as per advised by her neighbors. Mrs. Inutz verbalized that she had no time to bring
Dina as she is too preoccupied with finding a living for their daily sustenance. Joshua on
the other hand, had intestinal parasitism. It happened last month (October 2021) when
he informed his mother that he observed a worm when he defecated. He usually craves
for sweets. He would always be telling her mother that he easily gets tired and is
constantly hungry. His weight tends to drop gradually. And has a pale skin color, Josh
has a bloated belly. Her mother let him eat fresh ipil –ipil seeds. Mrs. Inutz did not bring
his son for consultation as she had ill experience with one of the barangay health
workers.” All of the children have completed appropriate immunizations. They cooked
rice but oftentimes they buy viand from a carinderia. Usual food that they are consuming
are noodles, sardines, dried fish, and pork barbecue.

The kind of settlement that the family is living in, is a house made up of light materials
(nipa, plywood and bamboo) with poor ventilation. The house’s approximate floor area
is 10 meters in length and 15 meters wide. Two rooms , used as sleeping quarters ,a
small sala and a dirty kitchen comprise the house .Comfort room (flush type) is
located15 feet away ,made of dilapidated plywood and tarpaulins from campaign
materials of past elections. The family disposes off their trash in a vacant lot beside
them. Stray dogs would scatter their trash as well as trashes (diapers and single-use
plastic bags) of neighbors. Large rodents can be seen devouring garbage...Source of
water is from communal water pump (10 meters away), solicited by a benevolent
patron. They are fetching water which is used for cooking, drinking, and washing
clothes. Electricity is supplied by NOCECO

The kind of neighborhood that they are residing in, is not so congested. However, when
there is a heavy downpour of rain, flood would likely occur, and would remain stagnated
for as long as 3-5 days. An incidence of 3 leptospirosis cases were accounted last year
(2020) as well as dengue cases have increased dramatically. Another, disturbing
scenario is the presence of poultry farm in the barangay. Foul smell emanating from the
establishment is posing a big threat to the health of the residents. Sometimes a
substantial number of large, sluggish flies will be loitering inside and outside of their
house. Protests as to the closure of this poultry farm have fall on deaf ears (Municipal
Health Office). The owner of this poultry farm is also one of the municipal’s top
taxpayers.
