Good morning, Philippines. I am Althea De Leon, your weather forecast for today!

Typhoon Ulysses brought catastrophic winds and intense rains, causing flooding and
landslides in CALABARZON. It developed from a low-pressure area in the east of
Mindanao to a tropical depression on November 8, 2020, and intensified into a
typhoon three days later. It made its first landfall at around 10:30 PM on November
11, 2020, in Patnanungan, Quezon. At its third landfall over General Nakar, it
already reached maximum sustained winds up to 155 kph with a gustiness reaching up
to 255 kph, speeding up to 20 kph as it moved west-northwest.

In Marikina City, located in the national capital, officials reported that around
40,000 houses were either partially or fully submerged, and that all 47 evacuations
centers in the city are full with some evacuees seeking temporary shelter in nearby
homes. Similar episodes of immersed houses and people trapped on rooftops were
reported in the provinces of Rizal, Bulacan, and Cavite. The National Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) deployed search and rescue teams to
support local authorities in ferrying people to safer ground.

The typhoon unleashed powerful winds and torrential rain that killed dozens of
people, destroyed thousands of homes, and left swathes of the island region
flooded.

People who have been affected by the typhoon are devastated and crying out in fear.
For them, it's like a nightmare.

So here are some safety measure you should do before, during and after typhoon:
1.)If you are advised to evacuate, then do so.These people who will inform you of
the need for evacuation are more knowledgeable than anyone else.
2.)If you have second floor or any part in your house that is elevated, then have
your things placed in there.
3.)If you are evacuating, then inspect your house first. Make sure it's secured.
4.)If you have scheduled travels, then postpone it. It's better to stay inside your
house and remain calm.
5.)If you have survival kit, then bring it always with you.
6.)If your house is heavily damage after typhoon, then have professional to fix it.
7.)If you have tv, internet or radio, then keep monitoring the typhoons movement.
8.)If you have phone, then avoid using it to save battery, except for emergencies.
9.)If you have pets, then bring them into a safe place.
10.)If you will switch the appliances on, then ensure that it was not flooded.
It is better to be safe than sorry
