Organizational Behavior

The process theory includes Skinner’s reinforcement theory and Vroom’s expectancy theory
where the Skinner theory illustrates that a behavior of person is dependent on certain actions
and consequences as when people get positive response from the management for all the
tasks he has performed his behavior will be positive due to which he will contribute more to
enhance the performance while if the company doesn’t responds well to all his performed
tasks he will be demotivated with a negative behavior thus leading to decrease in
performance (Skinner, 2014). The expectancy theory by Vroom illustrates that motivation of
a person depends upon what he expects from the company and to what extent his
expectations are fulfilled as if the expectations are not fulfilled the person will get
demotivated which will eventually bring decrease in his performance leading to decrease in
performance of company as well. Likewise the expectancy theory illustrates that how well a
person see’s himself capable of doing certain tasks and eventually the belief of him to finish
that task on the required time (Parijat & Bagga, 2014).
LO2
Evaluate how to motivate individuals and teams to achieve a goal.
Motivation is basically a power which helps in bringing changes in the output and
performance of a company. It is defined as desire to go for meeting all the requirements of
company from its employees thus created a goal oriented behavior of employees in a
company. In order to make a person perform really well motivation plays a vital role. There
are two types of motivation including intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation involves
working on something for sake of internal satisfaction as when a person is satisfied internally
he is expected go for performing for sake of better results as meeting the challenge or
achieving the target goal rather than focusing on rewards to be achieved from completing that
work or the different pressures from the top management. Everybody is not always motivated
to perform certain tasks and sometimes people are motivated to go for doing a specific work
but not the all other work as well. Extrinsic motivation involves the work done by employees
based on a certain reward, achievement or any specific pressure rather than due to self-desire
(Al Saifi, 2015).
