C. CRITICAL THINKING
1. What would be the consequences if Earth did not divide into different layers?
 If earth is not divided into different layers, then we human beings are free from natural
resources and of course without natural resources there would be nothing, there would be no
life. Without the current four layers (inner core, outer core, mantle and crust) then everyone
dies because we’d just be mixed in with everything else.

2. What would be the consequence if all the plate tectonics suddenly stopped?
 Without plate tectonics that push the continents up the erosion would result in the continents
disappearing under the surface of the oceans. If the continents were eroded completely into the
oceans there would be no continents and no land left. Earth would be devastated.

3. How does the evolution of the ocean basins affect the hydrologic cycle?
 Water direction could be specifically influenced by the flow of water as well as its direction
when the ocean basins began to spread since the ocean plays a key role in this vital cycle of
water.
