2. Admissions Unit
International students (refer to the definition below) can apply for the UIC Sophomore or Junior class.
(Applicants must mark their choice on their application form.)

3. Eligibility
International students are non-Korean citizens whose parents are both non-Korean citizens.
A Korean citizen with dual citizenship is NOT considered as an international applicant.

A. Transfer to the Junior class


• Those who have completed their freshman and sophomore year or subsequent years, or received an AA
(Associate of Arts) degree at a college or university can apply for transfer to the junior class of UIC.
• Applicants who have been studying in a university must have earned 63 (68 for ISE) credits and at least
one half of the required credits necessary for graduation at their previous university (in case of the 3-year
British universities, two thirds or more) to be considered as transfer students.
- Universities in South Korea (63 or 68 credits, and at least one half of the credits for graduation)
- Universities overseas (One half of the credits for graduation)
B. Transfer to the Sophomore class
• Those who have completed their freshman or subsequent years at a college or university can apply for
transfer to the sophomore class of UIC.
• Applicants who have been studying at a university must have earned at least one-fourth of the required
credits necessary for graduation at their previous university (in case of the 3-year British universities,
one-third or more) to be considered as transfer students.

※ Students (all applicants) who have earned credits from an exchange (visiting) college must receive
confirmation of the credits from the previous university and receive a transcript (including the credits) from
the previous university. The submission of the transcript must be made during the application period.

4. Admissions Process: 100 percent Documents Review (Total 100 points)


Comprehensive review of college academic performance, essay, professor’s recommendation, awards,
certificates, TOEFL score (or other English proficiency scores), etc.
※ It is strictly prohibited to describe the name and company name (occupation) of family in Essay.

5. Required Documents
A. Transfer Application Form
B. Verification of enrollment & Official transcript from a college or university
C. Official document showing your university’s graduation requirement credit and accreditation
D. Personal statement written in English (part of application form)
E. Two recommendation letters from a college or university professor
F. Applicant’s and his/her parent passports & Applicant’s birth certificate copy
G. For non-Korean national applicants residing in Korea: One photocopy of the "Certificate of Alien
Registration"
H. [Mandatory documents for foreigners with Korean ethnicity]
Legal documentation verifying the renunciation of the applicant and both his/her parents’ Korean
citizenship such as a Certificate of Family Relationship that shows renunciation of Korean citizenship
by the Korean government, verification of the renunciation of citizenship issued by the Korean
Counsel, or verification of the renunciation issued by the Ministry of Justice and notarized copy of
Alien Registration Card issued after the year 2011.
※ An application(접수증) or registration form for the verification of renunciation of citizenship is
NOT acceptable. An official document issued by Korean government saying that the process is
completely finished is ONLY valid.
※ Certificate of Family Relationship can be issued at any “dong” office.

- After completing the online application, applicants must send the application materials to the UIC office
