WHAT’S IN
PART I

1. List down 3 differences between the 2 images presented.

ANSWER:
- The location in the first image was crowded with people having a good
time, whereas the location in the second image was wide enough,
despite the fact that the people in the second image were also having
a good time.
- The first illustration depicts a greater susceptibility to
transmissible infectious diseases. When compared to the second
picture, the first picture shows disease.
- The first image appears to be some sort of celebration, whereas the
second image appears to be a formal portrait. It's just a regular
sunny day.

2. Which image shows higher vulnerability of transmissible infectious

diseases?
ANSWER: The first picture shows a higher vulnerability of
transmissible infectious disease compared to second picture.

3. Give explanation why the identified differences make it vulnerable and

not vulnerable to infectious diseases.
ANSWER: The risks of getting infectious diseases are higher in crowded
and inadequately ventilated spaces where infected people spend long
periods of time together in close proximity. These environments are
where the virus appears to spread by respiratory droplets or aerosols
more efficiently unlike wide places wherein there is such distance to
avoid being infected.

PART II
1. Which image shows higher level of vulnerability during typhoon?
ANSWER: Image 1 shows higher level of vulnerability during typhoon. Image
1 lacks bridges to serve people in case of emergencies like typhoon.
Bridges would enable people to evade typhoon by crossing to the safer
zones. It will also be very risky for people with no swimming skills and
experiences since there is no bridge. People in image 1 will be more
vulnerable to waterborne diseases since they would have to swim or walk
on water.

2. List 3 possible reasons why the chosen image in item 1 question has
a higher level of vulnerability on the given scenario.
ANSWER:
- Image 1 doesn't have bridges for people to serve as a way for
emergencies like typhoon.
- Since people would have to walk through the water, they will be
exposed to infectious diseases.
- It would be too risky for those who doesn't know how to swim since
there is no bridge.

3. Which image portrays better capabilities to response during times

of disaster? Explain why.
ANSWER: Image 2, because they provide a bridge for people to use
during emergencies wherein they don’t have to swim just to pass by.

WHAT’S NEW
1. Are there exits allotted for emergency escape plan? How many?
ANSWER: Yes, we have 2 exits
2. Are those exits passable and void of blocking hazards?
ANSWER: YES

3. Are the gates working and can be easily opened in case of emergency?
ANSWER: YES

4. Are these exits known to the students?

ANSWER: YES

5. Are the number of exits sufficient so that all the students can get
out in time during emergency?
ANSWER: YES

6. Do you practice emergency escape thru drills? Are there designated

areas for the students to go to so that the teachers will be able to
check if there are missing students?
ANSWER: YES

7. Do you think your school is highly capable of making sure of the

safety of their learners? Explain why.
ANSWER: Yes, because we have subjects and drills about emergency
happenings

8. What do you think are the possible factors considered by the DRRM
coordinator of your school in preparing your school in times of
emergency?
ANSWER: For us to be enable to be prepared at all times

What I Have Learned

1. I After answering the questions in “What’s new”, what are the possible
problems that you were able to identify?
ANSWER: In times of crisis, some students fear to the point that they
forget the necessary procedures for what to do in a disaster, which
can lead to accidents.
2. If you will be assigned as a Student DRRM coordinator, what possible
solutions to the problem can you suggest?
ANSWER: If I were to become a student DRRM coordinator, the first
thing I would do is submit a survey to assess my classmates' past
expertise in this field. Following the analysis of the data, providing
them with an orientation or symposium will be beneficial since they
will receive additional ideas and data on how to be prepared for and
survive a disaster. I would also recommend tight monitoring and
practices of the essential things that a student should do when a
crisis occurs both inside and outside of school.
They will be better prepared this way, and the harm may be lessened.
3. What possible activities can you suggest to increase the awareness of
the learners on how to lessen the vulnerability of your previous
school?
ANSWER: Do a lot of seminars and actual demonstrations regarding
potential calamities. It is preferable to do an annual risk assessment
for each student so that they are aware of the risks they have
experienced and how they are dealing with them. Danger assessment is
one of the most suggested measures that may be taken in the event of a
potential risk or hazard for kids. After reviewing the potential
dangers, the risk reduction organization will devise a mitigating
solution to guarantee that all university students live in a safe
environment. This might be in the context of emergency reactions, to
which the majority of the pupils have become vulnerable. Just remember
the adage, “Prevention is better than cure”. Risk assessment are done
to avoid the environment be prone for more severe cases and risk.

What I Can Do
1. What do you think are the possible problems being faced by Barangay
Canlubang? Give three (3) possible problems.
(1) Delayed rescue;
(2) Low food supplies;
(3) few temporary shelter

2. In this kind of situation, what do you think is the liability of the

local officials? National government?
ANSWER: They should increase the budgets for the rescue operations on
such disasters and also budget for the food and shelter.

3. Suggest three (3) possible solutions based on your identified possible

problems.
ANSWER: In my opinion, the three possible solutions to my identified
potential problems in the given situations are as follows: first, seek
services and facilities from government departments that would handle
clearing obstructions and providing accessible barangay roads to the
community, making them capable of handling emergencies; second, always
have backup funds or budget and extra disaster response vehicles in
case of shortage; and third, always be prepared at all times,
particularly during emergencies.
