Yixuan is currently in her second year of Mater of Music Degree in the Cleveland Institute of

Music. Described as a pianist with "excellent professional skill, a high degree of dexterity, and a
brilliant future" by the world-renowned pianist Maurizio Pollini, 24- year-old Yixuan Wei is one
of the most promising young Chinese musicians. Born into a musical family, Yixuan started
learning the piano at the age of 4 from her father. Later, she studied with professor Chun Wang,
Jin Zhang and Aiping Jin and was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School
in 2008. Where she currently studies in Cleveland Institute of Music with renowned piano
professor Daniel Shapiro. Yixuan has also participated in masterclasses with Andrea Bonatta,
Wha Kyung Byun, Hung-Kuan Chen, Chu-Fang Huang, Vladimir Krainev, Solomon Mikowsky,
Robert McDonald, Rebecca Penneys, Maurizio Pollini, Russell Sherman, and Tamas Ungar.

As a result of winning the grand prize in the 2013 Metropolitan International Piano Competition,
Yixuan performed in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a featured artist in the Metropolitan
International Music Festival. She also won 4th prize in the 2014 China Central Television’s
International Piano and Violin Competition as the youngest contestant, for which she received
high praise at home and abroad. Subsequently, she was interviewed by Beijing Central TV, and
Beijing TV as well as invited to be a guest artist at the Spring Festival Gala on the most- watched
channel of China Central Television. Yixuan has also been a 1st prize winner in the 2010 Chopin
Piano Competition, the 2009 Pearl River Caesar Fort National Youth Piano Competition, the
2007 China Open Music Competition, the 2004 Toyama Cup Youth Piano Competition, and the
2002 Concours Mido International Piano Competition.

In addition to her numerous prizes, Yixuan is a very experienced pianist on the concert stage. In
recent years, She has held concerts in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Beijing’s National Center for
the Performing Arts, Forbidden City Concert Hall, Shanghai’s Oriental Art Center, as well as
major concert halls in Boston, Tampa, Hong Kong, Taipei, Guangzhou, Shandong. These
performances have included repertoire of solo piano, and piano quartet as well as piano concerto,
which she has performed with China Philharmonic Orchestra, China National Symphony
Orchestra, HangZhou Symphony Orchestra, Among others. She has also attended the 22nd and
the 23rd Annual Music Festival at Walnut Hill on a full scholarship and was invited to the 2nd
Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival in 2014.
