Work ethics are any behavior, custom and habits of an individual or employee in a
workplace that he/she is having. It also refers to a set of principles and customs within an
employee that brings a positive working environment. Some benefits, ethical behavior and
unethical behavior are listed below;

A. Benefits of work ethics

❖ Enhanced industry reputation-when a firm has its own set of standards and norms
that employees must follow, it gives them a significant edge over their
competitors, especially when the company provides services to its consumers.
Because employees that demonstrate and engage in a more professional and
personable approach of communicating with their customers have a higher chance
of having a positive reputation. Just as in a restaurant, if personnel treat their
clients properly, a large number of potential consumers will be encouraged to visit
their various branches. People will always remember the services and ethical
behavior of each employee, which is advantageous to the company's reputation.
❖ Career Advancement-Every employee has the potential to be promoted if they
truly deserve it. And having a strong work ethic in any area can help you advance
in your career. If a man is determined to do everything in their power to attain
their goal, they can do it, and if an employee adds up his positive habits and work
ethics, he can look forward to a successful career. Work ethics, in other words,
can benefit people who possess them.
B. Ethical and Unethical Behaviors
➢ Ethical Behaviors
○ Obey the company’s rules and regulations- A responsible employee will
always take up the laws and regulations of their organization since it will
act as their guide or principles in performing their duties. It was also one
of the professional practices in the job, because someone who understands
how to follow simple directions and laws is automatically considered as
ethical. Following the company's guidelines results in a high level of
satisfaction for the management or owner, which leads to employee
advancement.
○ Communicate Effectively-Communication is something that links
individuals together, whether it's between coworkers or between
coworkers and customers. And, like conducting interactions with
suppliers, manufacturers, and investors, communication can make things
feasible in the most certain way. Effective employee communication can
also persuade a large number of clients to return to their business on a
regular basis. Employees can also communicate efficiently with their
coworkers in an attempt to optimize their bonds and come up with strong
corporate ideas.
○ Take Responsibility- an employee with an ethics is also someone that
takes responsibility in his/her actions whether it is good or bad. Just like in
a restaurant, when an employee serves the wrong order to a customer, the
customer has the right to demand and the employee has the responsibility
to take away the order and replace it with the right product. In other
words, having this ethical behavior must be done to settle all things right
away.
➢ Unethical Behaviors
○ Lying- this is one of the major unethical behaviors that everyone of us is
doing even just in a simple act. And it is considered as unethical because it
can affect the relationship of everyone in the team or even have some
malicious scenarios that can’t be resolved right away. Lying is also
considered as disobeying the regulations of a company because an
employee that is devoted to his work will never do such unethical acts like
lying.
○ Taking credit on other’s hard work- this is one form of stealing someone's
work and can be brought to the upper manager of the business for final
verdict. It is not right and just in any form to steal someone’s work on
their backs and take credit even if you don’t have any ideas to formulate
the design or work.Anyone who engages in this act must be punished
accordingly.
○ Theft- theft is one of the most major offenses of an employee, without
further elaboration acts of theft are misstating a financial statement of a
business, deducting funds/budget, stealing inventories and overstating the
expenses are examples of it. Having this unethical behavior must be
addressed right away to stop further, much worse effects.

Religion, food, clothing, how we dress, our language, marriage, music, what we feel is
right or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we treat our loved ones, and a
million other things are all part of culture. Culture also is our practice on a regular basis or even
yearly just like participating in a celebration in our town. Practices can also be about attending
meetings about your community regularly.
In any organization/society, having a single set of culture, customs, and beliefs can create
a harmonious relationship for everyone. I believe it is one aspect that guarantees a firm's edge
over its competitors or even in a small community, a citizen who understands how to cherish
their culture and obey the ordinance in their place can be a major action for its betterment. The
reason for my answer upon understanding the question is that there are various points to consider
in a group of people who share different characteristics and perspectives in order to live
harmoniously, of which I will give three: 1) participation, 2) willingness, and a set of practices.
These two, combined with a set of culture and practices, can help everyone achieve the goal that
they are pursuing. In other words,Peace and harmony will inevitably be applied in all aspects of
social life in a culture that promotes peace and harmony. Only when a society truly loves peace
and places value on harmony can it achieve continuous and steady development, as history has
shown. And lastly, having a certain set of customs that the people in a community should obey
will show off an intimate relationship with each other which will give peace and harmony to the
whole society.
