Ethics and Accountability in the Public Service

What is Morality and Ethics?

Humans do not live in a random manner. On a daily basis, we use or apply a

customary or habitual routine. It's as if we're reading a screenplay that teaches us how
to live our lives. It could be a complicated script, one that is founded on cultural,
religious, or philosophical values. In my opinion, morality is formed in diverse cultures
and societies in order to lessen conflict and promote harmony. To put it another way,
supporting and discouraging individual behaviour creates a more favorable
environment. As a result, it is preferable for us to grow. There are a number of different
methods for creating human-friendly surroundings. There are multiple sets of universal
morality since the problem has multiple solutions. If we will define Morality, is the set of
conducts by your own understanding of good and bad, often greatly influenced by one's
religion; a system used to modify and regulate a behavior. It is a developing human set
of shared norms, values, duties, and responsibilities that are applicable to everyone in a
community or society. But, if morality is a set of shared values among members of a
certain society or group, why do we worry about justifying those values with others who
are not members of that society or community? It is necessary to demonstrate a good
reason for the existence of an action or principle in order to justify it. Demonstrating the
balance of good in a way that benefits others rather than just one's own interests. To be
morally good, one must practice and live the characteristics of being good, as well as
the guidelines that control these characteristics. Moral Codes are the key factors that
contribute to these characteristics.
Ethics, on the other hand, is a branch of philosophy that ask the practical
question “What should we do?” It also describes to the things such as values, beliefs,
principles and norms that shapes our choices. Ethics often asks us “how should we
live?”, “what choices should we make?” or “what makes our live worth living?” It tries to
support us in defining the conditions for making a good decision and then identifying
which of our available options is the best one that will lead us clearly to what matters
most, which are our values that we hold to be good and care about things like justice,
empathy, family, knowledge, and equality. We are more vulnerable to value
trustworthiness and compassion in this situation, which pulls us in opposite directions
because values do not solve their own problem. Also, we have to know what is good,
but we also need to know what is right. This is where principles come into play, helping
us in choosing the appropriate means of accessing what we value.
Morality guides us into agreeing with other minds, while ethics guides us to agree
with reality. Both has the goal to reduce reality's moral dilemmas so that we can agree
on the phenomena of reality in which mutual engagement toward the good life is
attainable.
