Group Mental Ability Test

Raven’s Progressive Matrices

There are three versions of the Raven’s Matrices:
1. Standard Matrices
a. Age Range: 6-65 years
b. Subjects: Average Ability
c. Time for Completion: 45 minutes.
Note: This is a power test; the time given is what is usually sufficient
for most subjects. The same is true of the other version of the
matrices.

2. Coloured Matrices
a. Age Range: 6-85 years
b. Subjects: Young Children and Older Adults who are mentally
impaired
c. Time for completion: 15-30 minutes

3. Advanced Matrices
a. Age Range: 11 years to adult
b. Subjects: Above Average Ability
c. Time for completion: 40-60 minutes

Variable Measured
- Fluid Ability: It can be regarded as a marker for g.
Type of Item
- Matrices: Consist of sequences of related patterns. Subjects have to
work out the relationship between patterns and apply the rule to
the new cases
