FIRST WORKHOUSE- WHERE OLIVER WAS BORN- MRS.

MANN

Oliver was born in a workhouse in the early 1800s

Oliver was in bad conditions and the doctor thought that he was going to
die, death was an everyday occurrence in the workhouse

Oliver's mother died and Old Sally take care of him

Oliver became an orphan with a life of hunger and cruelty in front of him.

Mrs. Mann was responsible of Oliver and 20 other babies she didn't care
about children. She kept the money of the children for her

Board of directors- responsible for the workhouse

Oliver grew into a thin, pale and small child.

Mrs. Mann beat Oliver and his friends because they said they were hungry
and gave the children GIN when they were ill.

SECOND WORKHOUSE- MR. BUMBLE

Mr. Bumble came to the workhouse and take Oliver to another workhouse
because he was too old, Oliver felt alone.

Oliver was afraid of the board and cried; he had a rough bed and only eat
watery soup and a piece of bread in special occasions.

The boys were suffering starvation; they decided to ask for more food.

They choose Oliver, and he asked for more food. The master hit him and Mr.
Bumble locked him in a room and hung a notice on the door offering 5
pounds to the person who gave Oliver a work and took him away

UNDERTAKER’S HOUSE- MR. SOWERBERRY

After a week the undertaker (Mr Sowerberry) came and takes Oliver with him
to his house.

Ungrateful: desagradecido

Oliver met Mr. Noah Claypole, another orphan.

The undertaker thought that Oliver would be a good undertaker because of


his sad look.

After a fight with Noah, the undertaker separate them and put Oliver into the
cellar without food or drink.

When Oliver finally was released, he run away from them and decided to go
to London.

ESCAPE TO LONDON – THE ARTFUL DODGER- FAGIN

One boy called "the Artful Dodger" helped him, he invited to some food and
offered to went with him to a friend's house

Oliver went to London with him

London seemed a dirty miserable place, with narrow streets.

Oliver met Fagin, who was happy to met him and noticed that everyone
were happy in Fagin's home.

Oliver saw Fagin with a box with several valuable jewelry, Fagin get angry
and asked if he saw something. Oliver lied.

Fagin and the boys played an unusual game.

After a few days, Oliver went out with The Artful Dodger and Charlie Bates,
Oliver and understood that the game was about being a thief.

The police catched Oliver, and the gentleman, Mr. Brownlow and Mrs.
Bedwin looked after him because they realized that he was sick with
temperature for days.

IN MR BRONLOW'S HOUSE

Mrs Bedwin looked after him and Oliver felt warm and comfortable for the first
time.

He saw a picture of a gentle lady and he loved it.

He received new clothes for the first time.

Mr. Grimwig- was sure that Oliver was a thief but Mr. Brownlow doesn’t he
believed in Oliver's honesty. They wanted to prove it.

Mr. Grimwig asked Oliver to return some books to the bookshop and get the
money back

OLIVER´S GET TRAPPED- BILL SIKES

The Artful Dodger and Charley Bates returned without Oliver, and Fagin was
furious.

He called his partner Bill Sikes and his fierce dog Bullseye.

They want to bring Oliver back because they thought that he could tell
something to the police

Sikes's girlfriend-Nancy tried to enter to the police station asking for her
"Brother" Oliver and they knew that Oliver was with an old gentleman

In the bookshop, Nancy pretended to be his mother and return Oliver to


Fagin who locked Oliver in dark room for 3 days.

The boys and Fagin tried to persuade Oliver to become a thief telling him
about their lives.

At first, Oliver didn't want to hear them and thought a lot in Mr. Brownlow and
Mrs. Bedwin, but after some days he wanted their company.

THE ROB OF THE HOUSE-

Fagin and Sikes wanted to rob a house and they needed a small boy like
Oliver.

The men forced Oliver to help them, threatening him with a gun.

Once they were in the house, there were some men who shot and hit Oliver.

SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Old Sally, Oliver's Matron was dying and called Mrs. Corney, the matron to tell
her something important.

Old Sally confessed that he stole a locket with information about him from
Oliver's mother.

DAY AFTER ROBBERY- MRS. MAYLIE

The day after the robbery Oliver woke up in a field, he was very injured and
went to the house where they had robbed to ask for help.

Miss Rose helped him and told a servant to call the police and Mrs. Maylie.

Fagin was furious because he didn't want Oliver to die, because he knew
who his parents were.

Miss Rose is Mrs.Maylie niece-

OLIVER’S NEW LIFE- MRS. MAYLIE’S HOUSE

Everyone in Mrs. Maylie’s house were worried about Oliver, the doctor saw
the boy and told to the woman to go and see Oliver.

The two women couldn’t believe that Oliver was a thief, Oliver told them his
storie.

Dr. Losberne talked with the police and couldn’t believe that the boy was a
thief; he talked to the servants and asks for a clarification.

The servants weren’t sure that Oliver was the thief.

When he was recovered, Oliver wanted to help in the house, Mrs. Maylie
wanted him to move with them to the country.

Mr. Brownlow- Mrs. Bedwin Oliver wanted to return to their house to give them
explanations about what happened, but they had returned to West Indies.
Oliver was sad because he could never tell the truth to Mr. Brownlow

Oliver was happy in the Country with Mrs. Maylie’s and Miss Rose.

FAGIN RETURNS

Rose was sick and Oliver had to send a letter to the Dr. Losberne. Rose
needed his help.

In the post office, Oliver bumped into a man; he didn’t care about the
strange man.

Dr. Losberne didn’t give much hope about Rose, but the next afternoon Rose
got better.

Harry, Mrs. Maylie’s son arrived and was very unhappy when he realized that
Rose was sick. He is in love with Rose but Mrs. Maylie told him he couldn’t
marry her because in the past she was a poor orphan, even though she loves
him too.

Oliver dreamed about Fagin, he was terrified. But it wasn’t a dream!! Fagin
was there, Oliver shouted asking for help.

Rose recovered and Harry asked her to marry, but she say no because of the
public opinion. Harry told her that he will ask her a second time.

MONKS NEEDS INFORMATION- FIRST WORKHOUSE

A mysterious man called Monks went to see Mr. Bumble and ask for
information about Old Sally, the woman who helped Oliver when he was
born.

Monks Talked with Mrs. Corney, she told that Old Sally talked her about
Oliver’s mother. She told all the information for 25 pounds. She told about the
locked and gave it to Monks. In the Locked there were some hair and a gold
ring with a name: Agnes. Monks dropped the locket into the river and told
them to forget the conversation.

Monks talked with Fagin and Nancy listened them talking about the locket,
“nobody could discover Oliver’s true identity”

He also told Fagin that Oliver was visiting London.

Nancy wanted to find Oliver and tell him the truth.

NANCY TOLD THE TRUTH TO ROSE

Nancy went to the hotel where Oliver was and talked with Miss Rose, she told
Rose the truth about Oliver. She told that Oliver’s father money was in Monk’s
hands, that’s why he didn’t want Oliver to know the truth.

Monk was Oliver’s big brother!

Rose was very surprised about the story; Nancy told Rose where she can find
her needs to find her again (In the London Bridge).

ROSE TOLD THE TRUTH TO MR BROWNLOWS

Next morning, Oliver told Rose that Mr. Bownlows was in London again they
went to see him. Rose told Mr. Bownlows and Mr. Grimwig about Oliver’s story.
They believe her and they happily receive Oliver.

Rose told Mr. Bownlows about Monks’ story.

NANCY AND ROSE AT THE LONDON BRIDGE

Nancy was frightened about Fagin and Sikes.

Nancy tried to meet Rose but Sikes didn’t leave her get out of home.

Fagin suspected Nancy and sent The Artful Dodger to follow her when she
went out.

Artful Dodger saw Nancy with Rose and Mr. Brownlow, they wanted to find
Monk and if they did’t find him, they will tell the police about Fagin.

Nancy gave a description of Monk and Brownlow thought that he knows


Monk.

NANCY KEEPS HER PROMISE (and died)

Nancy was frightened about Fagin

Fagin ordered The Artful Dodger to follow Nancy if she went out.

The Artful Dodger saw Nancy with Mr. Brownlow and Rose and heard her
telling everything about Monks.

Nancy gave a description of Monks to Mr. Brownlow and he realized that he


knew him.

Fagin was very angry and told Sikes about what Nancy did, Sikes went home
and killed Nancy.

Sikes escaped and decided to leave London. He will go to France.

MR. BROWNLOW MET MONKS AT THE PUBLIC HOUSE

Mr. Brownlow met Monks at the public house and confronted him with the
truth.

His parents were separated and his father went to Italia for his uncle’s
inheritance, but then he fell ill and died. Monks and his mother kept the
money and leave Oliver without anything.

Oliver’s mother, Agnes was in love with his father, she got pregnant and her
family left her alone.

Dr. Losberne and Mr. Brownlow told Monks to tell the truth or the police will
catch him for Nancy’s death.

Monks agreed to tell the truth about Fagin and give Oliver his inheritance
from their father.

OLIVER LEARNS THE TRUTH

Fagin got arrested, and The Artful Dodger and Charley Bates were in danger.

Sikes appeared and ask them for a rope, he went to the roof and commited
suicide because a cowd follow him.

Oliver met Monks his half –brother, and everyone told him the truth about his
life.

Oliver discovered that Rose was his mother’s younger sister.

Rose and Harry got married;

Monks got ruined and died in prison.

Artful Dodger started a career as police informer.

Mr. Brownlow adopted Oliver that couldn’t believe his luck.
