Modification of Leaves-:

*The leaves which perform some special

functions in addition to the manufacture
of the food are called modified leaves.

LEAF SPINE:

*Leaves get modified into hard and

pointed structures called Spines.
Functions of Spines-:
1. It acts as defense organ.
2. It reduces the loss of water.
EX-: Cactus Plant.

LEAVES PITCHER-:

*In some plants leaf modified into

pitcher like structure. Thus, they can
trap and digest insects to provide
nutrition. These plants are called
insectivorous .plants. For EX-: Pitcher
Plant and Sundew Plant.

Leaf Tendril÷
*In some plants, leaves are modified into
highly coiled structures. These coiled
help to climb .For Ex÷ Pea Plant etc.

Leaf Modified as a Reproductive organ÷
