MDP 403 is a mechanical system design course taught in spring 2022. The course covers constraint analysis of mechanical assemblies, probability of design pitfalls from overconstraints, fluid power principles, hydraulic components, energy conversion, and wind turbine applications. The learning outcomes are for students to understand mechanical components and modules, make informed design decisions, optimally match modules into systems, avoid design pitfalls, and consider prior engineering efforts. The course materials are arranged into 8 modules covering the various topics and includes example problems. Students are encouraged to research patents, particularly from the European Patent Office website, to further their understanding.

This site provides access to patent documents from all over the world. Search could be made for any or some of the following information:
Keywords in the title only
Keywords in the title or abstract Patent number (publication number): entry consists of a two-letter country code followed by a patent number. US United States, GB Great Britain, DE Germany, etc. The two-letter code could also be EP for European Patent or WO for World lntellectual Property Organization. lf known, search could also be made for: Applicant, who is the owner of the patent, usually a company. lnventor, who remains the holder of the intellectual property right.
