The educational institution 'Liceo Semillas del Saber', located in Guadalajara de Buga, Valle del

Cauca, expresses in its Institutional Educational Project (PEI) its objective and commitment to
respond to the expectations of the students, the parents' association and the problems, interests
and needs of the social environment of the educational community. Therefore, it clarifies its
intention to involve all the participants of the educational community in the active and democratic
planning of the different processes of the institution, in order to consolidate a quality education. It
also corroborates the previous elaboration of said project in accordance with the legal statutes in
force, that is, the General Education Law, the provisions of the Political Constitution of 1991,
Decree 1860 of 1994 and other guidelines and regulations issued by the Ministry of National
Education (MEN).

Through the Institutional Educational Project, we seek to develop competencies related to the
economic and social development of the national context, as well as citizenship competencies that
contribute to the generation of social beings who are open to dialogue and democracy.

One of the transversal projects conceived by the institution is the 'Proyecto Ambiental Escolar
Liceo Semillas del Saber' which is in charge of the Teacher Marlene Sánchez Arenas, which seeks to
"provide the opportunity for students to motivate themselves and sow enough stimuli to become
environmental dynamizers in the future." (Sánchez, 2018) That is, through processes that involve
different levels of environmental responsibility, it is intended to create notions and values in
reference to conservation, protection and preservation of the environment, and regional and
national ecosystems.

Its general objective is to:

 Raise awareness and engage in an environmentalist culture to the educational community

of the Liceo Semillas del Saber.

And as specific objectives:

 To create in the school community an awareness of the importance of preserving and

recovering the environment.
 To make it a habit to separate waste materials.

The cross-cutting project specifies that in agreement with different global and national celebrities,
it will carry out talks, workshops and videos for the commemoration of these dates related to the
care and celebration of the environment. Also within the activities of the project, the following is
conceived:

 Vegetable garden project: in order to take advantage of the space available at the school,
the creation of a vegetable garden is proposed, which will allow the children to learn
about the complexity and importance of the care required to grow food and plants.
