So the chance of a certain die roll is based on the total bonus.

So if I have a 5 as an ability and the “first” bonus I have a +7 to the roll. Trying to hit a “Defense” of
17 means that in have 62.5% chance of getting that Target Number.

According to the Core book a TN of 11 is average and 13 is challenging; and 15 is hard.

With an “Ability” Cap at 7 and should the character or creature have the second focus bonus of (+3)
then that is a total of +10 and should achieve the Hard task about 98.2% of the time. If you noticed
this means that the person is achieving the Nigh Impossible TN of 21 50% of the time, impressive.

Dropping the permanent ability cap to 6 means that as a +9 they will still achieve the Nigh Impossible
37.5% of the time.

This is how I used the numbers and set the Ability cap in my game.

** It is also possible to adjust the TN by 2 points and shift the table right by one column.
