1. How was Science valued during Rizal’s time? How did they view it?
= One of the reasons why Science was valued during Rizal’s time is when Rizal became
a medicine and researcher expert and then he returned to the Philippines to continue his
career as a doctor by building his clinic after getting to know many people. He also
developed the town of Dapitan after he was exiled here with his knowledge of science
and technology.

1. How did Rizal relate Science to the propaganda movement? Can you specify which
essays were used in giving importance to Science?
= When he argued the important use of physical sciences to understand current social
reality. That the name of the essay is ‘’ Indolence of the Filipinos’’. While the essay is
“The Philippines a century hence’’, which means he compared Science with history.
While the essay were used in giving importance to Science is ‘’ Religiosity of the
Filipinos’’. This means he asserted that science is helpful in understanding the creator.

2. Identify the different discoveries made by Rizal during the exile in Dapitan.

= He did in Dapitan what he wanted to happen to the Philippines.


. In a short time, it can be considered one of Rizal's most important part of his life.
Rizal’s main goal of serving the masses and the Filipinos was achieved through a variety
of public works, land reform, health missions, and educational programs to promote the
knowledge of the youth as well as the elderly.

Rizal used approximately thirty -four hectares of land to enrich and organize the province
of Dapitan. It was only here that Rizal proved how unselfish he was for the sake of his
fellow Filipinos. Aside from teaching, treating the sick, and repairing dikes and
waterways, Rizal also continued his writing and exploration of historical artifacts and
biological specimens.
