base diameter 2 cm and height 16 cm. Find the diameter of each sphere. [2 marks]

2. Prove that the tangents at the extremities of a chord of a circle make an equal angle
with the chord. [2 marks]

3. The sum of two numbers is 11 and the sum of their reciprocals is 11/28. Find the
numbers. [2 marks]

4. [A]If four numbers are in AP such that their sum is 50 and the greatest number is 4
times the least, then find the numbers. [2 Marks]
OR
[B] If the sum of first 14 terms of an Arithmetic Progression is 1050 and its fourth term
is 40, find its 20th term. [2 Marks]
5. [A]Find the median class of following data: [2 Marks]

OR
[B]If median = 137 units and mean = 137.05 units, then find the mode. [2 Marks]

6. Find the roots of the equation ax²+a=a²x+x. [2 Marks]

SECTION B

7. The following distribution of weights (in kg) of 40 persons. [3 Marks]

Construct a cumulative frequency distribution (of the less than type) table for the
data above.

8. [A]Draw a circle of radius 4 cm. From the point 7 cm away from its center, construct
the pair of tangents to the circle. [3 Marks]

OR
[B]Draw a line segment of length 7 cm. Find a point P on it which divides it in the ratio
3:5. [3 Marks]

9. The angles of elevation of the top of a tower from two points at a distance of 6 m and
13.5 m from the base of the tower and in the same straight line with it are
complementary. Find the height of the tower. [3 Marks]

10. The mean of the following frequency table is 50 but the frequencies f1 and f 2 in class
intervals 20-40 and 60-80 are missing. Find the missing frequencies. [3 Marks]

SECTION C

11. The window of a house is ‘h’ m above the ground. From the window, the angles of
elevation and depression of the top and the bottom of another house situated on the
opposite side of the lane are found to be α and β, respectively. Prove that the height
of the other house is h(1+ tanα cotβ)m . [4 Marks]

12. [A]A two-digit number is such that the product of its digits is 14. When 45 is added to
the number, the digits interchange their places. Find the number. [4 Marks]

OR
[B]Two water taps together can fill a tank in 6 hours. The tap of larger diameter takes
9 hours less than the smaller one to fill the tank separately. Find the time in which
each tap can separately fill the tank. [4 Marks]

13. A bird-bath is a small ‘container’ which is placed in a garden and filled with water for
birds to bathe in. Mayank and Swati both made two bird-baths as their school
projects. The shape of Mayank’s bird-bath’s is a cylinder with a hemispherical
depression at one end as shown in figure (A), whereas the shape of Swati’s
bird-bath’s is a cylinder with a conical depression at one end as shown in figure (B).
[4 Marks]

Bird-Bath (i): The height of the hollow cylinder used in making this bird-bath is 1.45 m
and radius is 30 cm.
Bird-Bath (ii): The height of the entire bird-bath is 2.6 m, while the height of the
conical depression is 36 cm. The radius of the bird-bath is 28 cm.
A. Refer to Bird-Bath (i) The curved surface area of the cylinder is
B. Refer to bird-bath (ii) the volume of conical depression is almost
