________________________________

ABOUT THE ARCHITECT

From dancing house, Prague frank Gehry has been consistent in involving an
experimental and a modernistic approach in his projects and Walt Disney
concert hall is one of them. Frank Gehry was born on 28th of February in 1929 in
Toronto Ontario. Gehry used to spend time building cities using wood scrap with
his grandmother that's when his interest in architecture started budding.
Along with surrounding himself with wood scrap and carpentry tools, he took his
former education for Los Angeles City College and in turn
Graduated from the University of southern California's school of architecture. In
1957 he was given the chance to design his first private residence at the age of
28. In 1989, Gehry was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Walt Disney Concert Hall is located at 111 South Grand Avenue in
downtown Los Angeles California and was opened on the 24th of October,
2003. It can occupy around 2265 people at a time. It is one of the internationally
recognized Architectural landmarks and most acoustically sophisticated
concert halls in the world.

OBSERVATION
From the works of Frank Gehry, the Walt Disney Concert hall has successfully
inhibited free-flowing curves and a modernistic design style which is vividly
observed in the choice of building materials and form of the structure. The
structure is the best example of potraying rules of harmony and symmetry. The
form can be correlated to the sails of a ship

DETAILS
The choice of building materials for external facades appears to be quite
repetitive but has been delivering a clear agenda portraying modernism and
fluidity in Architecture. Steel is the major building material used in the
construction of the external facade coupled with glass which functions as a
liaison between the various volumes. The use of steel gives a sense of luster to
the structure along with the crispness and sharpness of curves defining an
identity to the build concerning surroundings

FEEL AND EXPERIENCE

The spaces are designed in a manner such that the people have access to the
entire build through a common opening planned at the main entrance. The
auditorium of the structure serves extreme care in acoustic quality and natural
light. The structure size and majestic look gives a grand experience to the visitors

FEEL AND EXPERIENCE

The unusually shaped Building is based on a reinforced concrete construction
with 99 differently shaped adjoined façade panels. The Frontispiece consists
of two towers, resembling a dancing couple. On the top of the Dancing
House, there is a dome called Medusa for its shape. The overall feel of the
