1. Cite certain situations when you encountered miscommunication while talking with people
of different nationalities.
> I am at the receiving area of the Naia terminal 1 when a chinese asked
me something which I do not understand, all I can say is 'Dwaipuchi, wo
bu chi da' which means 'I'm sorry, I don't understand' then she walked
away.
> I think miscommunication is not just through verbal, I have this habit of
wanting to hear other speak their language because it feels foreign to my
ears. When I see chinese nationals or korean, I tend to go beside them to
hear their conversation even though I don't understand. It was in
intramuros, when the chinese girls looked at me and go, then after, they
are wearing their masks, I don't know if they think that I am looking at
them because of the COVID-19 and theu felt discriminated, I felt sorry.
2. As a conscientious student, what have you done so far to avoid miscommunication ad
misunderstanding when communicating with people of different cultures?
> I share my opinion on social medias with proper and distinct point, not
the hanginf ones, so that people who sees my post will be able to gasp
what I really wanted to say. And, I have learned some phrase like korean
language, so that if ever a korean national will need help here in Ph which
do not speak english or filipino, I may be of help for the phrases or words I
know.
3. Looking at the three different approaches to intercultural communication, which one would
you prefer and why?
> Social science, I am quite fascinated with other's language, the way
they greet each other, their norms and everything. I can see these things
while watching a drama like a korean drama. Just by watching them, one
will be able to know how they really are in person but of course,
everything should not just be based on the dramas, actual engagement is
a must.
