INTRO: Goodmorning everyone I am invited here to present to you

some important informations for the topic Management theories.

This presentation includes set of questions and answers to be discussed
to further understand the concept of management theories.

WHAT IS MANAGEMENT THEORY

Management theories are the set of general rules that guide the managers
to manage an organization. So in management theories, we focus on the
role of supervision, organization, and group performance. Managers
must be responsible for the performance of their teams toward
organizational goals. Reaching business goals might include reducing
human error or standardizing processes. That is why dito pumapasok
yung kahalagahan of Management theories because they help to clarify
these types of goals for managers and inform on how best to realize
those goals. Generally, professionals will not rely solely on one
management theory alone, but instead, introduce several concepts from
different management theories that best suit their workforce
and company culture.

2. HOW ARE MANAGEMENT STYLE INFLUENCED BY

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR?
The article from libretexts described the relationship of management
theory and organizational behaviour. They highlights the effect of how
the companies change their management practice along with their
organization’s overall culture and behaviour in the goal of improving
productivity. Companies were growing at an alarming rate for the first
time, causing them to adjust their workflow, policies, and management
methods.
So ang unang theory that helps establish the foundation of organizational
behaviour is the model or theory of
1. Taylor’s Scientific Management Theory- Dito, taylor focused mainly
on productivity and worked to establish the most efficient ways to
accomplish every task. As a result, it impacted the whole organization
and affected the professional and personal dynamic of its employees and
managers. The effectivity and success of this theory was then challenged
by its missing key component which is the human relations factor.

Dito na umusbong ang idea or model ng hawthorne studies.

2. Human relations management theories- they examined of how human

relations and interactions could affect productivity and workforce. They
proved that it is important for the companies to to take interest in their
employees in order to increase productivity and decrease turnover. hindi
lang dapat focus tayo sa work and its functions only but also give
importance to the effort na pinoprovide by the people.
The Hawthorne effect suggests that employees will perform better when
they feel singled out for special attention or feel that management is
concerned about employee welfare.

Another big impact on the development of organizational behavior was

McGregor’s Theory X & Theory Y. As you read in the last section, the
two theories are extremely different. Theory X states that people are
inherently lazy and need to be forced to work. Theory Y on the other
hand, says that people are motivated to work and argues the importance
of a team dynamic. Theory Y is the more effective of the two theories
and is a fundamental part of the foundation for organizational behavior.
3. WHY STUDY MANAGEMENT THEORY?
1. Increasing Productivity
One of the reasons why managers are interested in learning management
theories is because it helps in maximizing their productivity. In
management theory, tinuturuan tayo on how to properly manage the
business or organization by focusing on our people or the human asset.
Since organization cannot be an organization without its people, we
must focus on investing through trainings so that all will be competent
enough, and make the whole management work effectively and
efficiently.
Taylor’s scientific management theory proposed that the best way to
boost workers’ productivity was by first observing their work processes
and then creating the best policies.

2. Simplifying Decision Making
Another area where management theories have proven to be useful is in
the decision-making process. Max Weber proposed that hierarchical
systems encourage informed decision-making. A report written by the
Institute for Employment Studies suggests that flattening the hierarchy
paves the way for local innovation while speeding up the decision-
making process. Flattening out entails getting rid of job titles and senior
positions so as to inspire a cohesive work environment.

3. Encouraging Staff Participation
Management theories developed in the 1900s, aimed at encouraging
interpersonal relationships in the workplace. One such theory that
encouraged a collaborative environment is the human relations
approach. According to this theory, business owners needed to give their
employees more power in making decisions.
