Dear Marta

Thank you for your letter and the photos of your town. Munich is bigger than my
home town and I’m sure it is more exciting. Do you like it?
I live in a small town called Stromness on an island in the north of Scotland. There
aren’t many people and life is very quiet here, but I like it. There’s a busy harbour with
lots of fishing boats. The coast is very beautiful with lovely beaches and interesting sea
birds.
I don’t like winter. The days are very short and the sky is always cloudy. We have to
stay indoors a lot. When the weather is very bad, people can’t leave the island. I like
summer and my favourite month is June.
Next July, I’m going to stay with my aunt in Edinburgh for the Edinburgh Festival. It’s
the biggest festival in Britain and lots of famous actors and musicians come. Why don’t
you come to Edinburgh for a few days for the festival? My aunt says that you can stay
with her too.

Write soon and tell me

Mike

Eurochocolate

Do you like chocolate? Do you know there’s a festival for chocolate. It’s in Perugia,
Italy, every year and it’s on for nine days in October. It’s called Eurochocolate and lots
of people go there to see chocolate from all round the world. Every day about
50-60,000 people go to the festival. There are lots of things to do. People can learn to
cook meals with chocolate and watch some artists make pictures with chocolate!
Children learn the story of chocolate and play with it too. They can also enter
competitions. You can buy lots of different chocolates and cakes and of course, you
can eat them too! It’s very interesting and great fun. So, come to Eurochocolate this
year and have a fantastic time!
