Mr. Hamblin World History Chapter 5: Ancient Greece Newspaper Project Name: Date: ANCIENT TIMES Task: Imagine that you are a journalist in Ancient Greece. You will be creating a newspaper as if you were living during this civilization. Please take into consideration what you have learned so far about Ancient Greece. This project will require you to get creative, and | encourage you to utilize all available resources in the classroom. Goal: To create a newspaper to tell the people of Greece what is happening. Remember, you are journalist in Ancient Greece, don’t just give facts, tell us a news story! «Take note if you see the word “challenge” those requirements are optional and you will receive extra credit for completing that portion of the task Criteria: Please note | have provided you with examples. Please include 1-8 in your paper. (8 and 10 are optional challenges for extra credit.) 1) Title- Every good paper has a great title! 2), Headline Story (EX: politics, philosophers, scientific findings, important events) 3) International Story (EX: Persian Wer, Athens vs Sparta, Trojan War, Alexander the Great ) 4) Life and Leisure (EX: clothing, mythology, life in Sparta, schooling in Athens, housing) 5) Sports (EX: athleticism, Olympics) 6) Business (EX: economic conditions, trade development, expansion) 7) Opinion ( philosophers, advice column, letters to the editor) 8) Weather (must indicate an understanding on the importance of geography!) 9) Advertisement (propaganda *challenge*) 10) Political Cartoon (*challenge*) Grading Guidelines: You will be graded on the overall appearance and content of your work. Your grade will reflect upon the time and effort you put forth in this project.
