Description and Rationale
In this lesson students will learn how to write a card; they will think of others that may be missing
people and communicate nice thoughts and feelings to them through writing for others.

Explain that lots of seniors live in homes to be taken care of, but
their families can’t visit them because of Covid.

Explain that this time of year lots of people are thinking about
family and people who can’t see family may be lonely.
Transition Have students go back to desks

Brainstorm some things to say in the cards on the board.

“Have a merry Christmas”
“Wishing you love and happiness”
“hope you are staying healthy and safe”
“sending happy thoughts your way”

Go over starting with “Dear Friend” and ending with From, [name]

Use best writing, draw a picture, then decorate the front of the
card.
Transition Hand out card templates.
