What were the first four locations hooked up to the Internet (ARPANET)?

- The first 4 location that hooked up on the internet which is ARPANET is the University of
California, Los Angeles, (U.C.L.A.), the Stanford Research Institute (S.R.I.) in Menlo Park,
Calif., U.C.
What does the term packet mean?
- Packet means is that is a small segment of a larger message. Data sent over computer
networks such as the Internet, is divided into packets. These packets are then
recombined by the computer or device that receives them.
Which came first, the Internet or the World Wide Web?
- ARPANET adopted TCP/IP on January 1, 1983, and from there researchers began to
assemble the “network of networks” that became the modern Internet.
What does the term VoIP mean?
- Voice over Internet Protocol are also known VoIP is a technology that allows you to
make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog)
phone line.
What is a LAN?
- LAN means A local area network (LAN) is a collection of devices connected together in
one physical location, such as a building, office, or home.
What is the difference between an intranet and an extranet?.
- The difference between this two is Intranet is a tool for sharing information throughout
the organization. Whereas Extranet is a tool for sharing information between the
internal members and external members.

1. What is the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web? Create at least
three statements that identify the differences between the two.

The difference of this two is the world wide web, or web for short, are the pages you see when
you're at a device and you're online. But the internet is the network of connected computers
that the web works on, as well as what emails and files travel across. Next is the internet as the
roads that connect towns and cities together. And The world wide web contains the things you
see on the roads like houses and shops. Last is the Internet is a global connection of networks
while the Web is a collection of information that can be accessed using the Internet. In other
words, the Internet is the infrastructure and the Web is a service on top.

2. Who are the broadband providers in your area? What are the prices and speeds
offered?
The provider of our broadband is PLDT, actually I cant tell what is exactly the price and speeds
offered because we have no personal PLDT wifi but I used the neighbor computer shop to
answer all my modules.
What is your insight in this chapter?

My insight of this module is to learned more the history and development of networking
technologies. Because this is our subject we must learned the history and how day to day to
develop the networking technologies. Also to Understand the importance of broadband
technologies Which is Broadband provides access to the highest quality internet services, such
as videoconferencing for telehealth, that require large amounts of data transmission. Last is
Describe organizational networking. This is the networked organization is one that is connected
together by informal networks and the demands of the task, rather than a formal organizational
structure. The network organization prioritizes its “soft structure” of relationships, networks,
teams, groups and communities rather than reporting lines.
