for a brief
Et voilà! You are ready for the adventure and sew your �rst lingerie set!
But before you start.... Do you know in what size you should cut your sewing pattern?
By the way, do you know how to take your measurement to be sure of the size of your
lingerie bottom?
No? No panic, we are here to help you �

Before you start :

There is a (nearly) essential tool for all pattern maker / seamstress: a tape measure!!
But, we do know sometimes, many people don’t have one at home, and the good news
is, that there is another way to take your measurement!
Here is the tips: take a piece of string / a non stretchable tape instead of the tape
measure. Place it around your body (as we will see below), and with a pen, mark it at the
good measurement. Then, place this string / tape �ap, and measure it until the mark
you have done.

For all our lingerie bottoms, it is very easy: we need only one measurement. That is
the hips one, as we call it.
To �nd this measurement, stand up straight, in front of a mirror (to have a better look
on what you are doing), and place your tape measure (or the tips above), all around your
hips / buttocks.
To do it, your tape measure should remain parallel to the �oor (that means straight),
and you should give it an “ease”. That means, place it around your body, without over
tighten, just as it goes.
Where is exactly the hips measurement? Well, it is where your body is the largest.
That is not necessary where your buttocks are the roundest. It is just a little bit lower, as
on the sketch.
Once you have measured your hips measurement, just look at the the chart below to
�nd your size.

2. Men measurements

For our men underwear, it is very easy: we need only one measurement. This is the
belt measurement, otherwise known as the "natural waist", or approximately 5cm

below the navel.
