I would also like to expand my deepest gratitude to all those who have directly and indirectly guided me in writing this assignment. CHAMBER MAID’S TROLLEY-
A chamber maid’s trolley or a maid’s trolley is one of the
most significant equipment of the housekeeping department. It can be seen as a toolbox on wheels. The trolley has racks, pockets and shelves for the stacking of required tools, cleaning agents, dusters etc. A trolley should be carefully stacked with only that much amount of items which is needed at the moment. An overloaded trolley can cause accidents whilst an inadequately stocked trolley may cause more trips for refilling. The trolley is kept outside the room when it is being cleaned, this informs other passersby that the room is not vacant for accommodating. This is a picture of an empty Chamber maid’s trolley
There are certain SOP’s that are needed to be followed to
attain maximum efficiency in acquiring space for our linen, cleaning agents and tools. They are listed below: 1) Empty the trolley if there are any items are left in it. 2) Check if there are any broken parts, if yes then change the trolley. 3) If no, then clean and wipe any stains on the trolley. 4) In the lower most rack, heavy linens are stored (pillow covers, robes, etc.), lighter linen should go on the upper rack (sheets, towels, etc.). All the linens are placed separately. 5) Cleaning supplies are kept on the top most rack of the trolley. Therefore, the lids must be tightly put on them, to avoid spillage. 6) Trash bag (left side), soiled linen bag(right side) should be cleared. 7) Toilet papers, tissue box, paper towels are to stacked on the first rack. 8) Unopened bath products and clean coffee/tea cups, sachets and flasks should be kept beside the cleaning agents on the trolley. 9) Record the number and types of items placed in the trolley for the rooms. 10) Collect the room keys and take the trolley to the assigned floor. This is how the trolley should look after proper stacking.
