I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART

a Move aside the Protection and Switching Unit wiring
(5) at the rubber rings. Note:
a Partially remove the Protection and Switching Unit to Connect the connectors with the shor test wiring
disconnect its connectors. first to avoid stressing the wiring and dislodging a
connector.

a Connect the passenger compartment wiring connec-


tors to the UPC according to the position marked at
the time of removal in the order (1) , (2) , (3) , (4) and
(5) .

a Connect the engine wiring connectors to the UPC


according to the position marked at the time of re-
moval in the order (6) , (7) , (8) and (9) .

a Connect the connector (10) for the passenger com-


partment wiring to the UPC according to its position,
marked at the time of removal.

a Refit the rubber rings for the UPC wiring in their


housing on the UPC unit.

a Clip the Protection and Switching Unit onto its unit.

Note:
137083 If the Protection and Switching Unit does not clip
a Disconnect the Protection and Switching Unit con- on correctly, check the condition of the wiring of
nectors, marking their position. the Protection and Switching Unit connectors.
a Remove the Protection and Switching Unit.

Note:
Check that the wiring sealing rings are in the
notches on the UPC unit and are correctly and
fully located in their housing.

a Clip on the UPC passenger compartment wiring
support bracket.
a Clip the Protection and Switching Unit cover onto the
unit.
a Check that the clips are correctly clipped in place.

Note:
When the cover is correctly clipped in place, the
locks slide freely.

Note:
If a clip or a clip notch is broken, the faulty cover
or unit must be changed.

a Lock the UPC cover safety catches by aligning the
lock mark with the mark on the cover of the unit.

II - FINAL OPERATION
a Connect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery: Re-
moval - Refitting, page 80A-2) .
a In the event of a replacement, apply the after repair
procedure using the Diagnostic tool :
- connect the Diagnostic tool,
- select "Protection and Switching Unit",
- go to repair mode,
- display the "Before/after repair procedure" for the
computer selected,
- carry out the operations described in the "After re-
pair procedure" section.
