From 21 June to 27 June, I was assigned to weir and Intake. In previous week I was stationed at
Power house where the concrete work is done on Circulating Water Storage tanks. Also, I learned about
the Earthing.
At weir the excavation work is almost done on Phase 2. But there is a lot of water at excavated place
and they are removing water by using water pump. They started the concrete on the Return Wall which is
17.4m and the thickness is 1m. The footing length is 3m. The concrete they use is Grade 28.
Also, I performed Sand Equivalent test. The Sand Equivalent Test quantifies the relative abundance of sand
versus clay in soil.
During the test, material from the test specimen that can pass through a No. 4 sieve is mixed with solutions
of calcium chloride, formaldehyde and glycerin in a cylinder. The content is then left for sedimentation.
After about 20 minutes, the level of clay suspension and the sand level is read on the cylinder scale.
The value is the ratio of the sand reading divided by the clay reading times 100.
