Answer the following questions in your pre-lab report.

1) What is a transmission line?

2) Why do we need high voltage (HV) power transmission lines (110kV, 220kV or 380kV and
above) instead of low voltage (LV) in power systems?
3) What are the characteristic parameters of transmission lines and upon what they depend?
4) Mention transmission lines models based on their length.
5) Draw three phase electrical equivalent model of a transmission line (T and π models).
6) Write the network equations of a medium length transmission line.
