WRITING TASK 1
PROCESS
I. Put the correct order for these paragraph to make a complete process:

The diagrams below show the stages and equipment used in the cement-
making process, and show how cement is used to produce concrete for building
purposes.

………Moving
4 to the production of concrete, the first step is combining different
materials – water, sand and small stones in the proportions of 10%, 25% and 50%
respectively. This mixture is next put into a concrete mixer in order to become
final concrete which can be used for building purposes.

…………It
2 is clear that there are five main stages in the process of making cement;
meanwhile, only two steps are required to produce concrete.
1
………..The given diagrams illustrate the production of cement, and how to use
cement to make concrete.

………..At
3 the first stage of producing cement, limestone and clay are put through a
machine called crusher and become powder. This powder is then mixed and is
brought into a rotating heater where it is heated in high temperature. The process
continues with grinding the material and then cement is produced. At the final
stage, cement is packaged into bags and is ready for the production of concrete.

The diagram shows a method for filtering dirty water using a barrel and a drum,
a pipe and two taps.

The system shows how natural materials and basic equipment can be used to
produce drinking water in just a few simple (1)………...

(2)…………, the drum and barrel are placed next to each other so that the top of the
barrel is higher than the drum. These items are (3)………..by a pipe that runs from
the bottom of the barrel into the side of the drum. (4)………, the filter is made by
adding sand, charcoal andgravel to the barrel. (5)……, a tap is fixed to the bottom of
the drum and the top of the pipe.

The process begins when dirty water is poured into the barrel. (6)……….., the water
goes through the filter and up the pipe into the drum, where it is stored.
(7)………, when the tap in the drum is turned on, clean drinking water comes out.

MODEL ANSWER
The diagram explains the process for the making of chocolate. There are a
total of ten stages in the process, beginning with the growing of the pods on
the cacao trees in certain regions and culminating in the production of liquid
chocolate.
During the first stage, cacao trees are grown in certain areas with suitable
weather conditions and climate, specifically in the South American and
African continents and Indonesia. Once pods turn red, they are ripe and
ready for harvesting stage when farmers break the pods to collect the white
cocoa beans inside and discard the outer pods. Following by this, cocoa
beans are spread on banana leaves for fermentation. After a short period of
time, they are then laid out again on a large tray so that they can dry
completely under the sunlight. Next, they are placed into large sacks and
loaded on trains or lorries in order to be easily transported to the factory.
At the processing plant, cocoa beans are then roasted at a high temperature
of 350 degrees to arouse the aroma, after which the beans are crushed and
separated from their outer shell. In the final stage, this inner part left is
pressed, producing liquid chocolate and fine chocolate is ready for
consumption.
