2. Construir un vocabulario con las palabras que no conozcan (máximo 20 palabras entre técnicas y
cotidianas). Las palabras seleccionadas deben ser definidas, en inglés, con sus propias palabras; dicha
definición no puede ser extraída de diccionario.
3. Responder la siguiente pregunta:

Pumping: sending some type of fluid through a pipe by means of some type of pump.

Losses: In hydraulics it refers to all the causes that decrease the pressure in a pipe network system.

Monitoring: It is to control that the system works properly.

Leak: loss of fluid, which contributes to loss of pressure and flow in a pipe network.

Human consumption: Everything related to what a human being can ingest (liquids and solids).

Sensors: instruments used to collect or record data.

Pressure: In hydraulics it refers to the force with which the water is moved through the pipes.

Supply: In hydraulics it refers to bringing water to different points that are required.

Treatment plants: It is a set of elements or systems, where a special treatment is given to the water (disinfection)
and make it suitable for human consumption.

Demand: In hydraulics it refers to the amount of water that is consumed in a city, town, houses, etc.

Regulations: In hydraulics, it refers to the supply capacity of a pipe network system, during the day.

How does Veolia identify the water leaks?

Veolia identifies leaks by means of instruments (sensors and meters) in the network, and thanks to acoustic
detection techniques, or the use of a tracer gas.
