Script
Narrator 1: One afternoon, Alice was relaxing and minding her own
business in the park with her sister, when out of nowhere
a rabbit wearing a waistcoat raced past her. She couldn’t
believe her eyes! He stopped for a second, pulled out his
pocket watch and exclaimed-

Rabbit: Oh dear! I’m late!

Narrator 2: And off he ran out of sight.

Narrator 3: Alice’s curiosity got the better of her and she quickly
followed Mr Rabbit to where she had seen him last. She
stopped and looked around. All she could see was an
ordinary old rabbit hole.

Narrator 4: She looked down that ordinary old rabbit hole and Alice
thought to herself, maybe I could fit down there and then
I really could see what that rabbit was up to.

Narrator 2: So off she went.

Narrator 1: The start of a new adventure.

Alice: Oh gosh, it is very dark down here. I wonder why rabbits

don’t have lights to show the way when climbing in and
out of holes?

Narrator 3: Just as she was thinking of a way to install lights in

the rabbit hole, she reached the bottom and found the
light switch.

Alice: Here it is! It is so much easier to see where we’re going

with the lights on! Now where did that rabbit get to?

Narrator 4: The rabbit had scampered off out in front, but Alice was
determined to stay on it’s fluffy tail to find out exactly
what rabbits in waistcoats got up to. As she was walking
along the tunnel, she came across a hallway full of doors of
all shapes and sizes.

Alice: Hmm, what a curious wall to find. I wonder where all of

these doors lead? Perhaps each door leads to a different
place? How will I work out which door Mr Rabbit
went through?

Narrator 1: Alice sees a key on the table nearby.

Alice: This looks like it could be useful to help me get inside one
of these doors, but which one should I try first? I know,
I’ll start with the smallest and work my way upwards to
the largest.

Narrator 2: Amazingly, the key opened the smallest door with the first
turn. Alice peered through the tiny door.

Alice: There he is! Hey, Mr Rabbit, wait for me!

Narrator 3: But Mr Rabbit didn’t hear Alice and he was running late so
he just kept on running.

Alice: How on earth am I going to fit through this teeny tiny

doorway? Perhaps if I start with my toes. Oh no, there is
no chance I will ever fit through this doorway! What am I
going to do? I can’t go back now, I need to find out where
that rabbit is off to!

Narrator 4: Alice looked around the room for something to help her and
noticed a bottle with the words, ‘Drink Me!’ on it.

Alice: Drink Me? What a strange thing to have sitting on the

table. But I am feeling a little thirsty and it doesn’t look
too dangerous…

Narrator 1: Alice downed the drink and something strange began

to happen.

Alice: Ahhhh! What’s happening to me?

Narrator 4: Alice was beginning to shrink.

Alice: My hands! My feet! Umph! What has happened to

me?! Hang on a minute, I’m exactly the right size to fit
through this door now. That’s amazing. But what did I do
with the key?

Narrator 2: Alice looked way up above her to the table.

Alice: Oh no! The key for the door is still up on the table. What
on earth am I going to do now?

Narrator 3: She noticed something small sitting next to her.

Alice: What’s this? ‘Eat me!’ What a strange thing to have

written on a piece of cake.

Narrator 1: She began to nibble on the cake

Narrator 3: You think she would have learnt her lesson from the last
time she drank something that wasn’t hers.

Narrator 2: But, she didn’t. And as she nibbled she began to grow.

Alice: Ahh! What’s happening now?

Narrator 4: She grew and she grew, until she had grown way past the
height of the table.

Narrator 1: She could reach the key but...

Alice: Now I’m much too tall to fit through the door again. This
day is turning out to be a terrible day!

Narrator 4: She began to cry.

Narrator 2: And cry.

Narrator 3: And cry some more, until her tears formed a rushing river
of tears and Alice began to shrink and get swept away in
the river of tears.

Alice: Where am I going to go now?

I want to go home!

Mouse: Home? Where is your home?

Alice: Ahh! A talking mouse.

Where did you come from?

Mouse: I come from here and I can take you there.

Cat: Ready or not, here I come!

Mouse: Quick, follow me. Cat is on it’s way to find me in

hide and seek.

Cat: Mousey, where are you?

Alice: You are playing hide and seek with a cat?

Mouse: Of course! Who else should I play with? The danger makes
it all the more fun!

Cat: I see you mousey. You’re beginning to look like lunch.

Mouse: Alice, quick, get to shore. Once we’re there, the others will
look after us.

Narrator 1: And so, Alice and Mouse stumbled to shore with Cat not too
far behind them.

Cat: Umph! You get away today Mousey, tomorrow we shall

try again!

Alice: Oh Cat, you are a pretty cat, you look so much like my
own cat Dinah. She is a pretty little thing who loves
cuddles so very much. Do you like cuddles?

Cat: Cuddles? Me? Not at all. I am a Cheshire cat. Cuddles are

not for me!

Mouse: Hahaha! Cat loves to be cuddled. Here Catty, catty, catty,

come for a cuddle.

Cat: Ahhh!

Narrator 3: Without any warning, Cat exploded and scared all of the
animals away. Alice was once again left on her own.

Alice: Oh dear. Whatever shall I do now?

Rabbit: Hello there. Where did you come from?

Alice: Where did I come from? Where did you come from? I have
been looking for you.

Rabbit: Looking for me? Why, of course you have been. I did
hear there was a new servant around these parts. That
must be you!

Alice: Me? A servant?

Rabbit: Of course! I was in such a hurry to get here that I left

everything behind. You must go and fetch everything for me.
Quickly, quickly, there is no time to waste!

Narrator 4: Rabbit was once again off on his never-ending journey.

Alice: What a rude rabbit! I will not be his servant. Perhaps a

short walk will help me work out where I am and what I
am going to do now.

Narrator 2: And off Alice set down the nearest path to find what she
didn’t know she was looking for.

Caterpillar: Where are you off to, girl?

Alice: Oh! A talking caterpillar! What a funny place this is.

Caterpillar: I am not a funny place! I can guide you to where you

need to go.

Narrator 1: Alice was getting more and more confused and upset about
where she was and how she was ever going to get home.

Alice: I don’t know where I am! I was following the White Rabbit
and then he led me here, but then he was so rude to me,
and now I am here with you and I really don’t know what
I am going to find next.

Narrator 3: The Caterpillar smiled. He knew now he could have some

fun with this girl.

Caterpillar: This mushroom, the one right here, doesn’t it look

delicious?

Alice: Well, I’m not so sure about mushrooms…

Caterpillar: Yes, but this is not any normal type of mushroom. Try it.
Go on. I’m sure you’ll find it is actually delicious.

Narrator 4: Alice wasn’t one to normally trust strange caterpillars, but

today was proving to be a day of firsts for her.

Alice: This pink mushroom here? It is very pretty. I guess one

little nibble really couldn’t hurt me.

Narrator 2: And with that, Alice’s neck began to stretch higher and
higher, and before she knew what had happened, she could
see above the trees.

Caterpillar: I told you so. It’s delicious! There are some strange side
effects though. You never asked about the side effects.

Narrator 3: Caterpillar laughed and laughed.

Narrator 1: Alice began to cry again.

Alice: Please help me. I never wanted to be a giraffe. It’s scary up

here. The birds are looking at me scarily. Please Caterpillar!

Narrator 4: Caterpillar looked up and felt sorry for Alice.

Caterpillar: Fine. Take a nibble of the blue section. It won’t taste as

nice, but it will change your current view.

Narrator 2: Alice took a large bite of the blue section of the mushroom.

Narrator 1: Caterpillar was right, the taste was terrible!

Narrator 3: But Alice began to shrink.

Narrator 4: And before she knew what had happened, she was back to
normal height and Caterpillar was nowhere to be seen.

Narrator 1: Alice looked around in surprise.

Alice: Caterpillar?

Cheshire Cat: No caterpillars here, just me!

Alice: Who are you?

Narrator 2: Cuddly Cat was grinning.

Narrator 3: He was well known for his big grin.

Cheshire Cat: I’m Cat, The Cheshire Cat, haven’t you heard of me?

Alice: Heard of you? No, never. Should I have?

Cheshire Cat: Well, I am quite famous.

Alice: A famous cat? You’re crazy!

Cheshire Cat: Oh Alice, if that really is your name, you’re in wonderland

now. We’re all mad here!

Alice: Wonderland? What a strange name for a place.

Cheshire Cat: The place you need to go is left, then straight, then right,
round the corner, past the blue tree and back around to
the top of the straight. Once you are there, you will find
the March Hare. He will explain more.

Narrator 4: And The Cheshire Cat faded away from view.

Alice: I guess there is nowhere else to go. Let me see if I

remember correctly… he said I have to go left, then
straight, then right, round the corner, past the blue tree
and back around to the top of the straight. I hope the
March Hare has some more answers about where I am.

Narrator 1: Off she went,

Narrator 2: Hoping she remembered each of the instructions,

Narrator 3: Because as strange as Wonderland was,

Narrator 4: Alice didn’t fancy being lost in Wonderland.

March Hare: Ahh, excellent! A guest!

Alice: Who are you?

Mad Hatter: Who are WE?

March Hare: Who are YOU?

Alice: I’m Alice. The Cheshire Cat sent me to you.

Mad Hatter: Sent you to US!

March Hare: Whyever would the Cheshire Cat have sent you here?

Dormouse: For the tea party of course!

March Hare: She has not been invited to the tea party.

Mad Hatter: Quite right. She must not come to the tea party unless she
has been invited to the tea party.

March Hare: An excellent show of manners is to not go to places that

you haven’t been invited to.

Mad Hatter: Did your parents not teach you anything young lady?

Dormouse: It would appear she is unaware of the manners needed to

attend a tea party.

Alice: My parents DID teach me manners. It’s you that are the
rude ones!

Mad Hatter: Off you go then young lady, time here is standing still
and we have tea parties to enjoy for days.

March Hare: Tea parties for years.

Dormouse: What else could you want for, but a tea party for years!

Narrator 4: And with that, Alice decided to keep searching for a way
to get back home.

Mad Hatter: Farewell young lady. We shall see you again!

March Hare: At another tea party.

Mad Hatter: At another time!

Narrator 3: Alice made her way back to the forest looking for a sign of
where she should go next.

Alice: What’s this?

Narrator 2: Alice had found another tiny door.

Narrator 4: She was no longer surprised to find tiny doors and

talking animals.

Alice: Well, this does look like a place The White Rabbit would
go. If only I had kept some of that mushroom from the
caterpillar.

Narrator 1: Alice searched her pockets for a mushroom crumb to help

her get through the door.

Alice: Ah ha!

Narrator 3: And she downed the last crumb of mushroom.

Narrator 1: She shrunk down to sneak through the door and in front
of her was an amazing sight she couldn’t have dreamed of
in her wildest dreams.

Alice: A game full of cards. What a curious place this is!

Narrator 2: Alice was yet to meet the Queen of Hearts.

Queen: WHO ARE YOU!?

Narrator 4: There she is!

Queen: Who let you in? This is a private game of croquet with an
invitation list I carefully wrote myself. I am SURE your
name was NOT on MY LIST!

Alice: Uh...A-A-Alice, my name is Alice.

Queen: I’ve never heard of such a name! Off with her head!!

Narrator 3: Alice began to shake. Her day was beginning to go from

bad to worse.

Cheshire Cat: I see you have met Alice Your Majesty.

Queen: You know this intruder?

Cheshire Cat: Of course! She is a relative of a relative of a

relative of mine.

Queen: Of course she is. Leave her head where it is, get her a
croquet mallet and let her play.

Alice: Your majesty, I don’t know the rules.

Queen: Neither does anyone dear. I change them too often for
anyone to keep up!

Narrator 1: And with that, Alice was delivered her very own croquet
mallet to participate in the game,

Narrator 2: Little did she know that the game was as absurd as her
whole day had been.

Narrator 3: Alice sat on the ground and watched the game in

front of her.

Narrator 4: She couldn’t believe what her day had become.

Narrator 1: And she STILL hadn’t found The White Rabbit and found
out what he was up to!

Narrator 2: Alice put her head down on the ground, all of a sudden
overwhelmed with sleep.

Narrator 4: But before she could get taken away with anymore
dreams, she sat up with a start.

Narrator 3: She was back where it had all begun.

Narrator 2: In the park with her sister.

Alice: Where am I? Where is The White Rabbit?

Sister: The white rabbit? Oh sister, what a dream you must

have had!
