Ace: The ace is the high flyer, a pilot extraordinaire, the hotshot of the sky, the master of the

racetrack, he is the guy who does the dare devil stunts with his vehicle of choice, even if that
vehicle is a Rocket pack strapped to his back.
Examples of note: The Rocketeer, Amelia Earhart,

Bonus Skill Specially: Drive or Academics (Example: Geography or Navigation) or M. Craft.

Aristocrat: The person of leisure, either noble or just rich, this adventurer has money and feels
the need to find excitement with it. Class made a difference in the 1920’s so status came with
money.
Examples of note: Not pulp era but Bruce Wayne (Bat Man) is a good example. The Shadow
Bonus Stat: Presence or Composure
Bonus Skill Specialty: Politics or Socialize or Subterfuge

Entertainer: This is the hero that is in the movies or her voice is heard all over on a radio show.
This hero does good deeds for the thrill of being recognized or because adventure fell into her lap.
Examples of note: Willy (from Indiana Jones: And the temple of doom) The random dame in the
singing club. A man who is a Vaudeville actor by day and a hero by night.
Bonus Stat: Wits or Presence
Bonus Skill Specially: Medicine (The show must go on.) or Athletics or Expression.

Every Man: This is the average Joe, the all American farm boy turned hero. This is also the
category that fills the role of the Kid or the Straight Man. While they don’t have any bonus stat,
they get two free specialties instead of the normal one, and they can be in any skill. This type of
hero is used only if the concept does not fit one of the other.
Examples of note: The Cast of Clue. Alfred the Butler. Mr. Smith.

Explorer: Got fedora will travel. This is the rugged archeologist, the Alaskan trail blazer the
wizened safari hunter. Leaders and heroes to the core, they are the masters of adventure.
Examples of note: Indiana Jones - nuff said.
Bonus Stat: Resolve or Stamina
Bonus Skill Specially: Athletics or Larceny (Ancient tombs have traps.) or Survival

Martial Artist: The fighter of a Zen nature, his Kung-Fu is strong and his fists are like rocks.
Typically of Asian descent in the pulp era the heroes of this breed are exotic and wise.
Examples of note: Stereotypical Asian Zen Fighter, Wong Guy, Kato.
Bonus Stat: Strength or Stamina
Bonus Skill Specially: Medicine or Brawl or Weaponry

Mystic: Psychics and Wizards and Healers oh my! The mystic could be the strange guy that uses
magic or the priest that has an affinity for god. Having some kind of power that is unexplained,
they are typically not masters of combat. They are a subtle hero to play but an interesting one
none the less.
Examples of note: The Amazing <Insert name here>, Joe the Psychic.
Bonus Stat: Intelligence or Resolve
Bonus Skill Specially: Academics or Occult or Stealth
Inventor: The scientist that makes the Crazy Tech items. The one who created the Rocket-
Backpack, or designed <insert Gadget here>.
Examples of note: Nifty item creation guy. Not pulp but Doc Brown from Back to the Future.
Also not Pulp era but Q from James Bond. Also kinda not Pulp Dr Frankenstein.
Bonus Stat: Intelligence or Composure
Bonus Skill Specially: M. Craft or Crazy Tech or Science.

Investigator: The P.I, the investigative reporter, the F.B.I agent, or the Middle Aged female
Sleuth. The investigator had a huge impact on the genre of Pulp because people could relate to
him or her. A normal investigator pulled into unreal cases was a common thread.
Examples of note: Not pulp era but Sherlock Holms, Agatha Christy, Sam Spade. Joe Diamond.
Bonus Stat: Wits or Composure
Bonus Skill Specially: Investigation or Firearms or Socialize

Savage: Me Tarzan you Jane. The orphan that was raised in the Jungle by monkeys, or the
normal guy that goes deep into the Amazon and gets sick then lives with the ancient tribe and
learns new ways. And lastly, a person from a less then third world place that becomes a hero.
This is the savage.
Examples of note: Tarzan, The Phantom, Kantar.
Bonus Stat: Stamina or Composure
Bonus Skill Specially: Occult or Survival or Animal Ken

Scholar: This is a subtle hero to play, it is the learned person who is thrust into amazing
situations. Very knowledgeable but often not very combative, on the other hand who says you
have to color within the lines. This hero could be a combat badass and be very smart.
Examples of note: Umm… yeah ok I am stumped… But it is a good Type…
Bonus Stat: Intelligence or Wits
Bonus Skill Specially: Pick Two from Academics or Occult or Language Merits.

Scoundrel: The rogue or the gangster turned good. This is the colorful character that was not on
the side of good. He used his interesting skills for a good purpose now.
Examples of note: Not pulp Era but Robin Hood,
Bonus Stat: Dexterity or Manipulation
Bonus Skill Specially: Athletics or Larceny or Stealth.

Soldier: This is the hero that has military training, it is the hero that has fought in the war and
lived to tell the tale. It is the Tank and the Fighter. This is the tough as nails Man that kicks bad
guy butt.
Examples of note: The main character from Captain Tomorrow, both not pulp but good examples
G.I. Joe, A-Team
Bonus Stat: Strength or Dexterity or Resolve
Bonus Skill Specially: Pick 2 from Brawl or Firearms or Weaponary.
