A country being self-sufficient does not imply 'doing it alone' rather, it must be
interdependent, with people in the country helping and supporting each other
reciprocally for mutual gain. Therefore, being a self-sufficient indicates that a country
can develop its own products using how much it has, such as its natural resources
found in its own land and workers or its people, to create distinctive goods and services
that can meet the demands of its people or customers. Having those can also ensure
that its people's living conditions improve. As we look around the Philippines, where we
grew and lived, there are many things we can be proud of, such as the abundance of
beautiful places like Boracay Island and Palawan Island, our delicious foods like adobo
and mangoes where different varieties can be seen, and finally our people who are
industriousness and hardworking to the things we do. As we consider it, how can our
country become self-sufficient, and how can we, as individuals, be a part of that
process?

First and foremost, in order to become a self-sufficient country, it should begin with
the upper people, which is our government, by continuing to promote having goods in
our own natural resources. Since the government launched a Rice Self-Sufficiency
Program in recent years, why not continue to develop programs that can help us
become a more self-sufficient country, such as developing and marketing local foods
and furniture manufactured by local laborers? Another need is that we, as Filipinos living
here, must make a better life not just for ourselves, but also for our community. As a
result, having a purpose and making better judgments can aid our country's transition
to self-sufficiency. But how exactly? So here are my thoughts: We will be able to provide
for our needs as long as we have and continue to have the trait of being a hardworking
person, and if we prioritize our needs over our wants, we will be able to save money,
which we can use to start a small business, and with a positive mindset, that small
business will grow into a larger business in the industry, or even to invest and have
more money. You may be wondering why business is important to our country's self-
sufficiency. We can see a lot of people who started with nothing and expanded their
businesses because they had the right mindset. So, when we develop what the majority
of our community need, do they still need to buy items from other countries? if we have
it and can make it in a higher and better quality at a lesser cost? On our land, we have a
wide range of resources at our convenience. So, think about it if you want a self-
sufficient country.

Thereby, if our government and all Filipinos work together to attain the same goal of
supplying its own resources for its people's needs without buying or importing goods
from other countries, our country will be self-sufficient. As a result, everyone should
have the mentality of beginning a business, supporting local items, and promoting our
country's riches. We should concentrate on meeting our country's needs and preserving
its economy from potential challenges.
