The Following points were discussed and confirmed with Spring Hanger

supplier during the industrial visit to Pipe Hangers and Supports Pvt Ltd
on 08-10-11.

1. Spring hanger selection should be based on the load and travel range;
and spring setting based on the preset load (cold load or installed load)
position only.

2. Spring hanger load range to be selected between the min load and max
load which is given in the table. Exactly middle range is preferable.

3. For variable spring hanger the load variation should not be more than
25%.If the Variability is more, pipe stress will be more.

4. The over travel range will not be accepted. Hence, in this range spring
rate will be non linear.

5. Constant spring hanger can be used at any type of load range and
travel. The piping system feels very much comfortable by using
constant spring hangers.

6. We can make spring indent with PTFE sheet which is pasted on the
bottom spring top base plate to reduce the frictional load. Or else SS
plate should be provided at the bottom of the support pipe shoe to
reduce the frictional load on the bottom mounted spring hangers

7. Sliding movement for the bottom spring hanger C.G offset should not
be more than 30% of the spring hanger base plate size.

8. The max load on the bottom mounted spring hanger due to axial or
lateral movement can be permitted 30% of the vertical load.

9. The angle of inclination for the top support spring hanger should not
be exceeded 5% at each side as per code standard MSS SP 58.

10.The angle of inclination can be calculated from the spring hanger top
lug plate bolt CL to the Hanger rod connection with the pipe clamp
bolt CL.
11.Spring Hanger installed dimension may vary according to the R.T.O
length changes. Based on the RTO length, the spring support
arrangement to be selected.

12.The gap between the two hanger rods which are inside the turn buckle
should be maintained to 75mm.

13.Hanger rod thread length can be selected based on the spring hanger
catalogue which is given by the supplier.

14.Spring hanger supporting member can be designed for hydro test

pressure with spring hanger self weight.

15.Spring hanger accessories (hanger rod, turn buckle lug plate, clamp,
etc.,) weight should be considered at the time of spring hanger indent.
