 National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the UPI ecosystem
(comprising of leading banks and fintechs) observed February 1-7 as ‘UPI Safety
and Awareness Week’ and the whole of February as ‘UPI Safety and Awareness
Month’.
 Patanjali Ayurved Ltd and Punjab National Bank (PNB) have launched co-
branded contactless credit card in partnership with the National Payments
Corporation of India (NPCI) on RuPay Platform of NPCI.
 RBI cancels the licence of Independence Co-operative Bank Limited, Nashik,
Maharashtra w.e.f February 03, 2022 evening.
 As per the first revised estimates released by NSO, the GDP contracted by 6.6% in
FY21 (2020-21). In the first advance estimates, NSO had predicted this as a

contraction of 7.3%. GDP growth in 2019-20 (as per NSO)= 3.7%. The Real GDP
of India for 2020-21 was ₹135.58 lakh crore as per the First revised estimate of
NSO.
 Karnataka Bank has won the digital transformation award, ‘DX 2021 Awards’ by
the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for Best Practice in Digital
Transformation.
 Reserve Bank of India will observe February 14-18, 2022 as Financial Literacy
week 2022. The theme of Financial Literacy week 2022 is: “Go Digital, Go Secure”.
 RBI emerged as the second-largest buyer of Gold among the world’s Central
Banks in 2021. RBI bought 77.5 metric tonnes in 2021. Central Bank of Thailand
(Bank of Thailand) was the highest buyer of Gold in 2021 and bought 90 metric
tonnes of gold.
 Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has directed the mutual fund (MF)
industry to set up an audit committee at the asset management company (AMC)
level. It shall require a minimum of three directors and at least two-third of them
shall be independent directors of the AMC.
 RBI keeps policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF)
unchanged at 4.0 percent. Various rates are as under:

The MPC decided to continue with the accommodative stance.
RBI has projected the real GDP growth for 2022-23 at 7.8 per cent.
 RBI reopens Voluntary Retention Route (VRR) with investment limit of Rs.
2,50,000 crore. Minimum retention period: 3 years
 RBL Bank has partnered with Creditas Solutions for its ‘Neo Collections’
platform.
