Contour Space
This i sed and layered room (f) and (g) of Schult architectural space.
‘The light falls through the large glass windows on the left and makes the
interior appear larger. Light from left side falls into the interior floor and gets
reflected directly onto the ceiling.

Brightness distribution
1. The eye adaptation level is Photopic vision. The luminance of the room is
bright and clear.
2. The eye adaptation level is Mesopic vision. Artificial lighting helps the room
to get luminance atleast to an extent. Luminance of the artificial light is less.
Colour distribution
1.Contrast of white room with brown flooring is clear and perfect in daytime
vision.
2. It appears to be cool with blue tint from window and due to less artificial
lights. Floor is dark due to no reflection of light.
Emotional understanding
Overall impression is that the artificial lighting can be more or the luminance
of the lights can be more to avoid darkness during night time. This would
make the scene bright.COMPARISON BETWEEN PHOTOPIC AND MESOPIC

Contour Space
an enclosed and layered room (f) and (g) of Schultz architectural sp:
Solid space with one sided light from the window. This space gives a feeling of
~ durability and permanence. Artificial light from the lamp and fan gives lighting
» tothe room. There is a sharp distinction between indoor and outdoor. The
light is diffused through the window.
Brightness distribution
1. The eye adaptation level is Photopic vision. The light comes inside from
one side of the window and also from the left side of the guitar. Due to this the
room luminance is little high.
_ 2.The eye adaptation level is Mesopic vision . Artificial lighting helps to make
the room bright. Without artificial light luminance of the room is dark. Dark
areas associate calm and static.
Colour distribution
_ 1.Room appears to be warm by Ittens colour contrast. The exposure is more
comparatively.
_ 2.Walls appear to be green due to artificial light and it creates a contrast with
y cool light.
Emotional understanding
_ The total impression is that the room is calm and static due to less luminance
of the room. There could have been bigger window or more lights to make the
room brighter.COMPARISON BETWEEN PHOTOPIC AND MESOPIC
PICTURE 3
Contour Space
This is a contour room (c) of Schultz archetypal spaces. This type of space
features certain vulnerability. There is full of glass doors which separates the
indoor and outdoor activities. The transparency of the space does not offer
~ privacy for occupants. All activities are visible, especially in the evening where
the room becomes the lantern.
Brightness distribution
1. The eye adaptation level is Photopic vision. The skylight fills the space and
during morning times the interior is little bright compared to evenings.
2.The eye adaptation level is Mesopic vision. Artificial lighting helps to make
the room bright and makes the interior brighter than the exterior.
Colour distribution
1.Room appears to be warm by Ittens colour contrast. The exposure is more
in the exterior.
2.Space appears to be cool by Ittens colour contrast and becomes mild.
Interior is more prominent than the exterior.
Emotional understanding
The overall impresion is that the space is bright crystal clear during day time
vision and gives freshness to the surrounding. During evening time the space
gets calm and silent and makes the interior prominent.PICTURE FOR PHOTOTOPIC
Contour Space
This is an net room (d1) of Schultz archetypal spaces. In this the sunlight is
fragmented and encloses the space. Sunlight creates shadow patterns on the
ground which makes the space exciting. But in this place we cannot be there
for a longer period. Pillars and pergola together makes it a net rom. It makes
the space little closed by providing climber plants. But during night without
light it makes the place scarier.
Brightness distribution
The eye adaptation level is Phototopic vision. Luminance of the the sky light is
reduced by the pillars and the pergola. It gives a warm scene and a protective
feel along the pathway.
Colour distribution
The colours are recognizable. Green colour of the climbers reduce light falling
inside and seen as darker shade due to the density of the climber plants.
Emotional understanding
The total impression is that the pathway gives safety and makes us feel
protected and makes the pathway interesting by the patterns falling on the
ground.PICTURE FOR MESOPIC
Contour Space
Outside is a pergola space (d) of Schultz archetypal spaces. Combination of
the linear wooden flooring and pergola creates a rhythm. The pergola helps to
control the angle of view from outside to inside. This makes the interior appear
larger. The light that falls into the interior gets reflected dir
ceiling. This creates a soft diffuse light in the interior.
tly onto the
Brightness distribution
‘The eye adaptation level is Mesopic vision. The artificial lighting in the interior
makes the room prominent. But the brown elemnts of pergola and flooring
depress the scene.
Colour distribution
The space is filled with colour scale of brown shade with different hues.
Contrast between the sky and brown flooring , pergola, interior etc makes
the scene dull.
Emotional understanding
The total impression is that the interior is bright and warm. The brown
elements can be reduced to make the scene brighter and to give life to the
pergola space.PICTURE FOR SCOTOPIC
Contour Space
This is an enclosed and layered room (f) and(g) of Schultz archetypal spaces.
This is a room with huge glass door. Artificial lighting from right side of the
room provides brightness. In scotopic vision the room appears to be in black
and white. The light from right is reflected by the the glass door. Since the
furnitures are white it is clear in the dark vision.
Brightness distribution
The eye adaptation level is Scotopic vision. Only light from right side of the
room proves luminance to the roo, which in further gets reflected by the glass
door and provide more extra brightness to the room.
Colour distribution
In Scotopic vision the room appears to be in black and white. It gives dark and
dull look.
Emotional understanding
‘The overall impression is that the room appears to be dark. We used to see
the obstacles on the left clearly due to the light intensity provided from right
side. Since it is dark it gives the feeling of sadness. By providing white lights the
space can be more interesting and giv
life to the room.
