How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
Students will be told that they will get the chance to create a podcast. The teacher will ask if any
students know what a podcast is, if some do, they can tell the rest of the class. The teacher will
solidify what a podcast is to students. Students will be given a storyboard to plan out their podcast

and what they will say in it. Students will use the tool Anchor to create their own podcast for class.
They will create a podcast to show their understanding and knowledge. Students will be made aware
of their goals by having them stated at the beginning of the lesson as well as having it displayed for
students to see. Students will use technology to create their podcasts as well as explore others as
examples. The teacher will show their podcast as an example to students, so they know what it
sounds like. The teacher will also model how to create one with students following along. The
teacher will walk around and help students along the process. There will also be a checkpoint where
students show the teacher their podcast and the teacher gives feedback on what they should add or
change. The lesson will be concluded by students showing their podcasts to the class.
Managing student learning: This tool will allow students to become active social learners because instead
of hearing the information and doing a worksheet on it, they are actively creating something. Students will
also be able to show their creativity and express their voice.
Students will submit a plan or transcript before getting to the podcast creation. They will also be stopped at a
certain point so that the teacher can check completion and let students know what else they may add.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: This tool supports engagement as well as
representation of UDL. Getting to create a podcast will engage students in their learning because
they get to create something where they show their knowledge. This is a different form of
representation rather than completing a worksheet or a quiz.
Reflection: This lesson will impact student learning by engaging them in something they may not
have done before. They are also getting more experience with technology at a young age which they
will need as they get older. I look forward to hearing all the podcast of students. I know students are
creative, so to see how all their podcasts turn out and how different they all will be is what I look
forward to.
